    TimeGate.jpg

Due to some realism constriants and lack of proper buildings, I will be accelerating the CJ up to the dawn of industrial ages, this will allow me to build paved roads and even add a (few) cars in the near future since it is bieng a big headache to avoid pavement alltogther
I'm going to throw the CJ in a time warp, we will be already in the middle of the industrial revolution.
    35.gif35.gif
Update coming soon, I'm working on getting the proper look to the first city44.gif
Make sure your seatbelts are tight, we don't want anyone lost in the dark ages, nor in the invasion of Askatasuna!10.gif

At last here is the update, this time I will focus in Cerealia, in the dawn of the industrial age:

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606684.jpg
In the early ages, Cerealia was taken by togo's military might, it is togo's seconday main city, but altely, a strong nacionalist movement has taken the population, and a revolution seems to be imminent, let's see what will happen aftermath...

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606781.jpg
This is cerealia's downtown in the centre we can see the church to St. Quatoec, who is calimaed to have brought back the fertility to the soils of cerealia after a severe dorought...

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606702.jpg
This is a close-up of the industrial area. Instead of having industries far from downtown, they ARE the downtown, in cerealia much of the indusstrial activity is food-related, so shipping time is something to worry, and a rail depot was built right next to the industrial core of the city.

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606738.jpg
*cough cough wheeze* EEK! What the, So much smoke in a single place! I see now why they have so much smoke, COAL! I find it outrageous that these people are consuming this sheer ammount of coal without thinking about the impact, but what can I do? The coal here is used in the main powerplant to avoid the over-production of power, everything is controlled here, saivng on coal consuption.

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606714.jpg
This is the main cerealia rail staiton, although rail still isn't a popular transportation, it is very efficient both in passnager transportation and cargo hauling.

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606796.jpg
The chateau du I don't know what (damn, what a fuzzy name I gave it!) was built in the medieval ages by the togo government, and served as the forteress of the imperials during one of the many (crushed) revolutions in cerealia's revolutions...

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606812.jpg
This small valley (seen in the picture) leads to Cerealia's secondary main walth source, the abundant coal veins in it's territory.

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606846.jpg
This close up shows the mess that is found inside cerealia's mining complex, the rails make a loop, a side-loop and a V in this screwy layout, which allow trains to position themselves to pull the highest ammount of coal ore with their limited engines.

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606836.jpg
These coal mines (despite the white ore, invert it's colors) unload their output efficiently by parking a train under them and just lowering the ore waggons over the flatbed couplings which are situated in the train parked below.

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606720.jpg

This is (yet) another loop in the city's rail system, it allows the trains to change directions when moving around, it leads to our final picture:

    Cerealia-28Jun061097606869.jpg

These bridges seem to not be very special, but they united the sides of the Ceres river, opening a new horizon to cerealia's development, much progress followed the contruction of the rail bridge, the stone one was built in the early medieval times, nowdays it had been re-paved and stands as a monument to Cerealia's engineering might.

    Askatasuna:
    [X]
In the early ages, Askatasuna was invaded by the expansionist Togo, but the Togo army found only rubbles of the once great city, the Askatasunans, knowing the Togo army was headed towards them, fled from their city in ships, burning it into ashes, as this image in a rock shows:
    Askatasuna-10Nov.jpg
They burnt everything from food supplies to the plants, leaving the togo army to starve when they arrived to find a bunch of ashes.

Askatasuna moved to a large island to the north (and due to some small issues with print screen) I can't give a picture of the two cities that compose the island, but here are their picture to compensate:
    Askatasuna-29Set041097706807.jpg
    Askatasuna-12Jul011097708197.jpg

I will start by southern Askatasuna:
    Askatasuna-8Ago011097708258.jpg
This is a close up of the farming area, and guess what, BANAS3.gif The weather here is perfect for the production of these bananal bananas18.gif

    Askatasuna-8Ago011097708274.jpg
The banana agriculture was increased exponentially with the plantation system, it is highly productive and bananas have enormous prices in the global market.

    Askatasuna-8Ago011097708290.jpg
This is the central part of the city, here there are the polluting industries which sprawl over the residential area, this sector of Askatasuna is older than the northen area, but curiously, it is more underdevelopned...

    Askatasuna-8Ago011097708290.jpg
The cathedral of Saint (I Don't remember) is a worship place devoted to a local preist who is claimed to have walked over the waters of a nearby lake to save a drowing child, here is the lake where the miracle happened:

    Askatasuna-8Ago011097708315.jpg
Some cetics claim he just walked over the abundant (and resistant) lilypads in the lake...

    Askatasuna-6Jun011097708168.jpg
Lighthouses play an important role in the bay, since navigating trough these murky waters at night is a dangeer. A primitive lightbulb is used to light up the lighthouse, which leads the path of the sailing ships.

    Askatasuna-8Ago011097708238.jpg
This is the last picture from Southern Askatasuna, the lighthouse line which leads the ships towards the docks

    Askatasuna-29Set041097706880.jpg
Due to Askatasuna's relatively safe position, the palace is just a large rowbuildings complex, with no walls since the water acts as a natural barrier to the incoming enemies.

    Askatasuna-29Set041097706914.jpg
A close up of the palace

    Askatasuna-29Set041097706929.jpg
These cathedrals are the Twin cathedrals built by the Queen in the late medieval times, after the whole country converted to the Rakatan beleif.

    Askatasuna-29Dez021097704800.jpg
    Erm, what's that smoke!!!!
    FIREE!!!!!!
Darn I can't belive there is a fire right on our tour, let's jump a bit ahead in time to see what happened...

    Askatasuna-29Dez021097704858.jpg
The fire not only consumed the Factories but also spread further towards the houses, burning them...

    Askatasuna-29Dez021097705127.jpg
    What a mess!
I bet they will have a good time to reconstruct that, let's jump in the future a bit more...

    Askatasuna-29Set041097706714.jpg
Seems like they rebuilt it, but added a firefigher office, these men are dedicated enginners whose funciton is to patroll the buildings to check if they are in tiptop condition to avoid fires...

    Askatasuna-29Set041097706862.jpg
These are very decaying neighbourhoods indeed the forces of the Industrious Captalism are leading these people to rot into mediocrity, but I can't blame them for that...

    Askatasuna-17Mai051097707889.jpg
These are the ones to blame, the rich men and women, who own the factories and pay stingy remunarations to their poor employees!

That's it folks for today, tomorow I might fix up the stuff I missed in this update, but managing so many pics sometimes gets yourself confused18.gif17.gif18.gif

haven't check in for a while, just wanted to pop in and say you are doing a great job, J.O. this is one of those few journals i have seen the dirt roads work so well with the rest of the city.
i also like your railroad layout in your mining area...that thing looks like complete madness, but looks very realistic.
the banana farm looks great, as well, and i also like your use of the rowhouses...i have always liked those buildings, which are amongst my favorites.
and, you know...it would be a shame if a fire were to strike the homes of those rich people, wouldn't it? but, i'm sure THAT would never happen 9.gif
keep up the great, work, J.O. - and i'm glad to see i'm not the only one who gets confused by his own pictures17.gif

    [X]

Rakata has one of the most confusing storylines, so I needed to make a timeline to explain it:
    Time.jpg

In the left we have the dates of the first settlements in the area, after a couple hundred years the Rakatism rose as dominant religion in the area, and shortly after, discussions with the local phyolosphers led to the burning of the great library and the exodus of the phylosphers who passed to live in a city of their own in the far northeast.
After the Separation, Rakata fell under a theocracy which still regins, causing the construction of megalithic cathedrals and the dominance of a a large population by the small group of preists...

    Rakata-10Dez041097882237.jpg

This is Rakata nowdays, it is completely taken over by the eclesiastics, the large ammount of people live under a closed reigin where only the wealthy have liberty.

    Rakata-10Dez041097882344.jpg
This is the basilic of St. Khone, the hunter of Philosophers. He was a legend, a monk whose beleifs made him to burn the great library and kill philosophers, he is worshiped here, and called a monster in Euskadi

    Rakata-10Dez041097882355.jpg
In this acropolis there, it is acctually just a group of walls around a tall cliff, the cathedral, Rakata's greatest wealth, stays secure high above the whole city and protected by the cliffs (but a catapult can do wonders here)

    Rakata-10Dez041097882365.jpg
The smaller cathedrals are dedicated to a miriad of Saints, while the main one is the place where the main cerimonies are held

    Rakata-21Jun051097884974.jpg
The preists themselves live in a magnificent palace a few miles away from the main city

    Rakata-21Jun051097884939.jpg
The runis of the Great Library stay omnimously to warn any who opposes the rule of the Church, the stone building in the north survived since it's structure was basically made of stone, the lower ones were a mix of stone and wood, waht led them into runis...

    Rakata-10Dez041097883597.jpg
The main rail station of Rakata is a modular complex of several attached buildings and two platforms, here the railroads of half world cross, so it is an important traffic center, and this ammount of traffic led to a crowing commerce...

    Rakata-21Jun051097884644.jpg
The commerce is owned by private enterprise, but the industries are propety of the church and the people work there for small payments...

    Rakata-21Jun051097885006.jpg
Here we can see the housing of the wealthy merchant elite that formed over the years...

    Rakata-10Dez041097883323.jpg
... and here we see the decaying low wealth areas...

The situation in Rakata is almost the same one as the one in Askatasuna, but the people are controlled by the religion... And they belive that God made them poor, so they won't fight against the majority for equal rights...

    That's it for today!10.gif

    Euskadi:
    Euskadi-24Nov061100900514.jpg
Euskadi is the city which was founded by the phylosophers who left Rakata, the people here live peaceful lifes following their religion's (the Abassism) teacing which are largely pacifist...
First of all, let's take a look at the city's palace:
    Euskadi-18Mai071100901597.jpg
The palace's main building is the C-shaped area, the dome in the center is a meeting hall where most of the public events happen. The leader of the Euskadians is an phylosopher who is elected and wins an life-long cargo as the ruler, he is refered as the wize man, or, in the local language, Pharaoh
    Euskadi-18Mai071100902160.jpg
The Euskadi University is world's larges serious research institution and is world-known by it's phylosophers and scientists...
    Euskadi-18Mai071100903800.jpg
The pond in the backyard of the university is one of the local natural landmarks (other than the great crater) It is used, aminly as a water source and recreational area.
    Euskadi-18Mai071100901812.jpg
While the university is the main knowlwedge center, the ideologies and theories are forged in these centers, the philosophy schools, where children older than 10 years mandatorially ingress to start the studies on philosophy, theology and naturalism.
    Euskadi-18Mai071100904305.jpg
The center of the Euskadi way of life is the naturalist school, which is a theo-scientific theory which states that the nature is not ruled by any greater being, and it just controls itself alone.
    Euskadi-18Mai071100901914.jpg
This is the Great Library, after the incident in rakata, one thousand years ago, a second one was re-built, this large cavernous building holds some of world's most precious writings. People often visit this great building to get books or copies of books from the inventory.

Exiting the philosophical area, we will now visit some of the earthbound details which are present in the city of euskadi...
    Euskadi-18Mai071100901343.jpg
The great Rail Station in Euskadi is world's second largest (losing just to the mega-complex in Rakata) rail station, and one of the busyest in the area. The traffic here is very large, so an extensive connection mess was made to allow the trains to switch tracks.
    Euskadi-24Nov061100900672.jpg
This small vilalge is called Minor Euskadi, it stays next to main euskadi and was developned only due to it's specially fertile land, the small village is connected to Euskadi by rail and by an old forest trail, which is almost never used nowdays. The minor library is a small culture center, where important exemplars are found.

Author's note: That's it for today, and sorry if this city is a bit too cheesy, it is my utopia, so I can do what I want with it3.gif

EDIT: Scroll up and play the same music as the other post3.gif
After some time without updates here we go again!
    k4btogo16jul06110225.jpg
Extra line to abvoid IMG tag mess
    y1atogo16jul06110225.jpg
Extra line to abvoid IMG tag mess
    x2ttogo16jul06110225.jpg
Togo is probably the most powerful city-state in Geb, however the city also have grown technologicaly advanced due to the spoils of war and tributes.
    x2xtogo16jul06110225.jpg
The weather in togo is very dry and the only water source is either groundwater (lord knows where it comes) and snow water (don't ask me where the snow comes from) To be able to have more water avaliable, a dam(n) was built to create an artificial lake and store the valuevable water.
    o4otogo16jul06110225.jpg
The dam(n) however does not produce eletricity so another source of eletricity is used...Coal (cough)
    b8ytogo16jul06110225.jpg
The industry in togo once was powerful due to the minerals... Now togo's industrial park masters in the production of raw materials and refining of imported raw materials, of course there are quarries and mines in the nearby area.
    p2ztogo16jul06110225.jpg
The farms in the upper area of the city are somewhat degradated... The pollution from the coal plants plus the poor soils aren't being a very nice freature, and most of the farms are decaying. Soon this whole area will be a grassy wasteland.
    v9ztogo16jul06110225.jpg
The administrative center of the city is this (rather) small complex, they hire few people, but the efficiency here is very high. Most of the imperialistic possetions are managed by private enterprise, unloading a significative burden of the government
    v6ctogo16jul06110225.jpg
The conditions for the poor population in togo aren't any better, however an efficient urban rail system helps with their commute
    b6ctogo16jul06110225.jpg
Talking about rail, this terminus is the end of the longest rail line, the inter-geb-an railine, it crosses all the world (at least where we are) and ends in this large terminus...
    m2ytogo16jul06110225.jpg
The only issue with extensive rail lines is...
Extensive corssings and a messy tangle of rails going all around, I never would like to drive a train there14.gif
    p3gtogo16jul06110225.jpg
The main city square is an achtetonical wonder, many people come here everyday to hang around when they have nothing to do.
    That's it for today
    IMPORTANT NOTICE:
The Showcase-storyline part of this CJ probably is done now. I am going to dive deeply in the storytelling part now...
The next update will (surely) be breathtaking but before I gotta do a truckload of stuff to get it ready.. Filtering mods, terraforming, BATTING, rendering a 32x32 pyramid... my lord14.gif
    Comments are more-than-welcome!35.gif
