My 1 GHz G4's nearing the end of its life, and I'm torn as to whether or not to get a 1.67 GHz machine now or wait 'till MacWorld in January in the hopes that Maximum Steve Jobs will debut the new Intel PBs and get one then. But really, that's only because of SC4. What I'd like to know if there's any appreciable difference in quality of gameplay between the 1 GHz and the 1.67 GHz. If it's worth it, then I'll take the plunge now, otherwise I'll hold out for the Intel machines.

    Grazie.

I seriously doubt you'd have any trouble running SimCity 4 on such a machine. I run it on a 1.25 Ghz single G4. Not smooth as silk, but good enough.

Whatever you decide, just remember that there's a little bug between OS 10.4.4 and Nvidia cards. SimCity seems to have trouble running on that configuration some have said.

My computer is about 1595MHz, and my copy of SimCity 4 runs quite fine even in a super region. I'm going to post my computer specifications soon on my profile page, to give you an idea.

Yea, i just cleaned my 1 ghz single G4 tower, and its running faster. I also run SimCity 4 rush hour very well. I dont see why you say its getting to the end of its life.
