Ok, I'll admit it: I bought it! And I'm playing it! :D

And I have questions already! :D

1) Do you know if buses generate revenue? I didn't seem to find answer to this quesiton.

2) Garbage: I have my landfill up and running, it's operating normally, It's not even 50% full and I keep getting complains about garbage piling up. Am I doing something wrong?

For you music lovers out there:

1. Yes. The little green box is your budget menu. If you switch to the Budget tab and then mouse over the numbers Weekly transport total, you can get a list of income which you can compare to the budget numbers.

2. Traffic problem I'll bet. The garbage trucks collect just by driving, if they can't drive through and area, they can't collect.

Remote sections of your city could not be covered by garbage service.  Adding a landfill closer to these section could fix the problem.

Maybe you have this problem with the garbage truck?

    (an experiment went very wrong...)

Seriously, try not to build the dump site way too far or have road hard to access.

It is OK to build nearby residential - later when you unlock incinerator, start cleaning out the site and when it empty, you can demolish it. You will need about 3-4 incinerator by that time to clear out all trash quick enough.

A few issues I noticed about garbage that may help you.

    1. The garbage trucks are tied to their "home" landfill. They do not drop off their loads at other landfills. The problem is, when a landfill becomes full, it stops sending trucks out. So If you have say 3 landfills and one fills up, your truck fleet suddenly gets cut down by a third. You can imagine the collection issues that causes.

Solution is to order the landfill to empty out. Even if you don't have an incinerator, it will just spread the garbage around to the other landfills. So it's no longer full and the trucks can be sent out again.

    2. Your landfills actually employ citizens. I believe that if the landfill is understaffed, it sends out less trucks. To fix this, make sure you have a good population of uneducated workers. i see most people start to immediately place schools everywhere. Since that's what you do to "improve" the city. But if all your citizens are well educated, then they will much rather work in an office instead of hauling garbage or working in a factory. So make some residential areas with no schools. Can't have everybody be surgeons and professors. Somebody's gotta be at the bottom of the pile picking up the garbage.

So check if any landfills are full. If not, Are all the trucks out collecting garbage? You can see in the info panel.

If neither of those is the problem. Then it probably is a traffic issue.

Yup. Guess I got my new sig for the forum.  :D

Edit: Or not. Seems Simtropolis does not deem me worthy enough for a sig yet.
