Welcome to Simtropolis!!

I'm sure all the contributors to the STEX appreciate your thank you.

Make sure that as you download content you organize it well in your plugins.  This way if you download something that conflicts with another download, you will be able to trouble shoot it easier.  Some suggestions for download are NAM, opera house fix, and the spaceport fix.  I would also suggest that any mods you download, do them one at a time.  Load them into the plugin folder and start the game.  Make sure they are working correctly before moving onto the next mod.

Good luck and have fun!!

Have a care.  Bingeing on downloads can result in less enjoyment of the game and considerable angst figuring out conflicts.  Prophet42 is quote correct, good organization is a good thing.

One thing I do that many don't is I keep all the original download archives in a directory named SC4RelatedDownloads inside my regular Downloads directory, then my Plugins directory more or less reflects it.

If you get in trouble, don't be afraid to ask about any problems.

Thanks Prophet42 and A Nonny Moose! Thankfully my organizational skills and memory are pretty good, so my folder is at about 1.5gb and I know just where everything is. I've spent a looot of time scouring the forum when I run into problems. Thanks to the great comunity here and your seven billion or so accurate responses to other people's questions, A Nonny Moose, I haven't yet run into any major problems. So far, I've had about 300 questions and have been able to find answers in just a few minutes either by checking the forum here or reading the manuals included with some of the more complex mods. You guys rule!!!

Yeah, that's how you do it!!! :D

You are welcome. And yes, this is a great community indeed! :D

Yes, but I told you it was the best butter.

How right you are you are. Sometimes it's better just to jump in and deal with problems then to try and get around them. This game can be glitchy with too many downloads anyways.

Firstly, I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this or if it's proper to post this at all. If this is not the proper place, I apologize.

I know I'm a liiitlle late to the party here. I played the game for a couple months back around 2005 without ever even knowing about the modding community. For some reason, I had an itch to play it again, so I bought it a little over a month ago. I quickly found this site and... my name's Dave and I'm a simaholic. Seriously, I've been on a downloading bender for a month.

I just wanted to thank everyone involved in this community for all the work you've done over the years making what was already a solid game into what I consider to be one of the finest simulations I've ever seen. As someone who lacks the knowledge and artistic talent necessary to contribute anything, I sincerely thank all of you who do.

I felt like a bum downloading all these thousands and thousands of hours of work without saying thank you. So thank you!

At some point it would be kinda cool and a payback of sorts (if you are willing) to perhaps post some images of what you've created over in the building concepts forum...

Will do! I'm currently knee deep in attempting to climb the RHW learning curve. I've honestly spent far more time reading about road capacities, pedestrian walkways, glitches, fractionally angled networks, blah, blah, and et cetera than I have actually playing the game. I'm just working on small cities and playing with city service cheat lots, so I can focus on getting a better understanding of the game mechanics. I like to know what works and what doesn't. Honestly, I actually enjoy it.  :)

I got the mapper and the landscape designer the other night and, of course, immediately made a huge map in the shape of a storm trooper, looked at it for five seconds until the novelty wore off, and erased it. Basically, I'm just messing around with all the options.
I've seen some of the amazing regions posted here and I will definitely contribute when I have something interesting!
