Growable or not ? How to find out ?

Hi fellow llamas.

I have downloaded a huge amount of custom buildings recently. I've been installing them by "groups" to see if some of them caused problems but there's one thing I'm not certain of.

I try to only install growable stuff (because what I like when playing is seeing stuff appear in my city), and I've found some japanese and spanish bats that look very good... but even with translations some didn't come with a readme or some were quite confusing... when it said "landmark" or "plop" there is no problem, but sometimes they say "CO$$" without precising if it's plop or grow.

How can I know ?? I think I will have to use some kind of editor that is used for lot creation but I'm a bit lost here.

Sometimes the creator of the lot will include some sort of indication in the file name to show if it is Landmark, Functional Plop or Growable (such as GROW, LM, PLOP, etc,,)

The sure way to find out is to open the .sc4desc or .sc4lot file using iLive's Reader, look at the exemplar file parameter 'Occupant Groups' to see what groups it belongs to.

Yep, the creators who correctly mark the files are the majority... and the ones that leave you guessing are quite rare, but sadly they exist.

I'll try iLive reader then, I just hope I'm not about to have too many bad surprises  :kitty:

    Thanks for your answer  :thumb:

Is their any way to know the Growth stage of a downloaded building? And also to edit them.

Yes, there is a way to know the growth stage.  Using iLive's Reader open up the .SC4desc or .SC4lot file (usually the .SC4lot file).  In the lot configuration exemplar file there is a parameter called 'Growth Stage' that gives which growth stage the building is.  You just have to edit the parameter to change the building's growth stage.  Make sure that you stay within the allowed number of stages for the building type.
