simcity 4 and i got like 24 so far, from the first 10 pages of highest rated and im like gosh this gona take for forever n ever o.O

n i was thinking to me self after i rebought simcity 4 then i found out thers mods, then i find out ther was simcity 2013 then i found out it was crap then i found out on this site thers mods for simcity 2013 even tho the news bit looked like there wasnt any mods,

its like i was reading the news going backwards intime instead of forward which the internet has a habbit of doing.

so my question really is, do i buy simcity 2013 and get them mods, or stick with simcity 4 and n get all the mods i like. i could do both but there aint enough days in the year to do that

then i see a donation volume 2/3/4 disc for simcity 4, i could buy that maybe? but then the date says upto 2010

so im all like whats the best advice ???

Comparing SC to SC4 is like comparing apples to oranges. SC is much more casual (easier to play) and although it has some nice mods they are nowhere near SC4 mods so far - though with time that might change. The good things about SC4 are being able to create contiguous regions with terraforming and a ton of mods and files available at your disposal. Basically it comes whether you prefer simply to play out of the box and do not mind not having terraforming and regions with empty spaces (in which case SC is probably the best option) or creativity and regions that can look like real cities (SC4).

You could certainly get the DVDs which would be a nice gesture. Other than that I recommend downloading a few mods and plugins at a time every now and then and get to play more instead, and download specific content that matches what you like to do ingame.

Also that is better anyway to find out if you have plugin problems or conflicts by using them immediately as some might crash your game if plopped or selected, etc, the exact reasons I am not sure but from what I read is that most of them are not due to the files themselves but rather conflicts with other downloaded content (I have 2 that I used to be able to use before and now I cannot use). Thankfully they are very very rare even with very large plugin folders but never hurts to be careful, I already lost one city because I plopped one building that turns out crashed the game after I saved and ran the simulation up, and would crash to desktop every time I attempted to go back, because the city already was saved with that building inside... Good thing I had a backup but even then I lost about 150k people and a major rezoning project.

thanks for your advice. for me simcity4 isnt as hard as i thought it would be, but it is fun wen ya let ya imagenation take other and ya city starts to become a nightmare, however im liking the mods for the parks, water parks, theme parks etc and the ordinances like the lottery program/water taxi etc/ so building a new sc4 city in a much wider dynamic veiw does intrest me so think im gona stick with sc4 for the time being :thumb:

In response to your first query:

If you want a limited 3D experience that will bore you to tears in about three months, go with SC2013.  It has the usual game life.

If you want an unlimited city building experience, albeit with older graphics, the go with SC4 Deluxe.  I've been playing it for 12 years.

    Plugins are another matter:

No matter what you do with your plugins you need to

    1. Keep a backup of all the downloaded archive files (just in case)
    2. Carefully structure the Plugin folder with subfolders so you can easily keep track of them for maintenance purposes
    3. Remember that there are no guarantees on compatibility with each other.  Conflicts are common in some instances.  This means reading the download document and any readme files that come with the pack, no fooling.
    4. The disks are worth having, because you get an archive of the best early plugins.  Later plugins are on-line, and I have a combination of both.  My SC4 plugin folder is just 1 GB after 12 years.  This is due to careful use and pruning.  No point in having stuff you don't use.
    5. And keep a regular backup of your full SimCity 4 user directory.  Remember those Regions have your Plugins as a dependency.

Biased opinion. SC2013, without mods, is not that great of a game. But with mods, the game allows for your creativity to spread :). Same for SimCity 4.
