sparky, i re-exported SIC and it turned out fine this time... and is not up for download! now i need to go back to koin... what was exactly that u said i should change again? you said you would make a pic of what it was i think... but i forgot what it was haha, maybe you remember.

also, i am getting help on making a Cs plop version of nordstroms BUG FREE, so once that is done i'll add it to nords main zip.

OK, I should know that building.... Isn't that the old Wells Fargo Building? Or am I (gasp) getting really rusty on my terra-cotta row knowledge? Whatever that one is, it looks great JT!

Still working on the Fox Tower base. I had to spend all day knocking down the polys in what I had. Now it doesn't bog down my computer! Window forms really make things difficult sometimes...

I also changed the windows a little, making them a bit more transpartnt light blue. Next up is to get the awnings and curved roof peice the way I want them. I'll post a new pic when I have that done. Then, hopefully, I can start on the Regal Cinemas and parking garage ends and incorporate the tower into the base.

The satellite photo site that you posted looks like a good thing! I hate the watermarks on GlobeXplorer! I really need a good view of the roof tonite and hopefully this has it.

well, i'm not modeling it Exactly like the original, but i am taking things that are cool from some dif white-chicago buildings in portland, but maybe this will give you a better idea of what building i am going for:

Holy crap, I am getting rusty. I used to go to school in part of this building! I know what the name of it is and who's in it. hehehe.

The building next to it (on the Broadway side) in real life is actually connected to it. They just took out the wall between to make more office space. It's weird, because the floors don't line up quite right and there's steps in the middle of what seems to be the inside of a single building.

i think its pretty cool that u guys got the area around Pioneer Courthouse Square going. cant wait to plop them all into my cities -- one of these days when i get some time (ie away from schoolwork) i'll try and replicate portland and these bldgs will help a lot!

kinda wish i knew how to BAT, wouldnt mind helping out, but i probably wouldnt be too great at it. i'll shoot any pictures i have of any bldgs to u guys in the future tho.

also, speaking of the connection, did u guys know that PDC is renovating Park Avenue (that runs parallel to broadway), i got to take a look at the plan and theyre making it into a 'european style' street. it'll be great. if i can find anything online i'll post it here and maybe if u all wanna add on to your BATs u can.

sparky, do you know what the name of this is? if not i could just call it abercrombie tower or something like that. and i think i will make the larger building, the one right next to pioner square, that almost looks like this building, this building will fit on a 2x2 lot.

portlandexpos04, that's ok that u don't know how to bat, you're just as valuable commenting on this forum giving suggestions and helping out that way. i had no idea they were renovating park ave. i haven't been to portland in like...3 months haha

but in realality, the A&F store in downtown portland is in an old building, much like this one, and they always have huge posters/ads of half naked guys in their windows! no joke haha. so that's why i have it in my bat, you have to look real close though

Well, they also usually have half naked girls in their ads... But then, that would be obscene.

They have actually changed their ad strategy now, as the last trip to the mall reveled that they have multi ethnicities now, and fully clothed!

Is there an Eddie Bauer anywhere in DT portland? THAT's my store!

JT: The name of the building is the Pioneer Park Building. I used to go to Heald College, which is on the middle floors of that building, and the one next to it (the entrance to Heald and offices above is in the adjoining building). I like how they use floodlights to illuminate the pillars on top of the building at night.

DuskTrooper: There's like a ton of Gap stores downtown, but you'd have to go out to the malls to find an Eddie Bauer. The nearest one I know of close to downtown is at the Lloyd Center, just across the Willamette River on the east side. I don't think there's one in Pioneer Place.

Man, you guys are just whipping out the buildings.  Before you know it all of Portland will be done.  Where will you be moving on to next?!?

 

And it's not like it's subpar work either, rather it's quite excellent!

DT, i havn't been to downtown portland for a while, so im not sure if they still have ads like this there, but it does look pretty cool for simcity! haha, and yes, i don't think half naked girls would be simtrop appropriate

Well, I'm of the opinion that we'll never get around to everything in Portland... With the way the Fox Tower's going right now, its slow going on this end. Especially with the setback that has occured today. Jt's putting them out a lot faster than I could ever though.

Anyways, good and bad news on the Fox Tower. First, the good news: I managed to knock the polys down enough to move a section of it into BAT and preview render it. The bad news is that it turned out extremely jagged even on the highest setting. Here's the screenshot to show you how hideous it looks.



Why is it doing this? Do I have too low of polys? Is it my computer? Is my BAT set up wrong? Is it too detailed? Any help is appreciated. This ALWAYS happens to me except on smaller buildings.

If you couldn't tell, I am extremely disapointed with the results.

hmm, i do believe that it is the detail, the pixls can't handel all thoes lines, so it makes it all fuzzy, if you want, i can take a look at it in gmax to see if that is truly the problem.

you two should make washington square too. or llyod center.you should also redo the pink glassed building. the name is slipping from my head. try zooming in sparky, using the scroll wheel. it'll look better.

tuna, malls would be a huge undertaking! but it would be cool to have some more, i'll look at satallite pics of them, to see how they look form the sky and if they are worth making haha.

Hey nice job on this guys. Im excited to see some more BATs from Portland, I love the stuff that is already released and definitely looking forward to more! That A&F looks cool with the giant ads in the window, keep up the good work

sparky, the reason for the scratchyness is that the lines are too thing/small, so it doesn't render very well, it doesn't look too bad on closeup zoom but it looks pretty bad from far away, try deleteing some muls or make them wider



also, a BAT tip, to zoom in hold ctrl and click the left click button on the mouse, right click to zoom out (while holding ctrl)
