ILives Reader Error

When I open ILives Reader, it says failed to load SimCityLocale.dat

After that, it keeps telling me to set up an ini file that the program needs to keep a default set-up

Could not being able to load SimCityLocale.dat be why I am having trouble saving the exemplar's files?

There doesn't seem to be a save function anywhere, by the way... unless I missed it.

Where is your game on the system?  The reader expects it to be in C:\Program Files ...\Maxis\SimCity 4 ...[\Apps].  If you got your game from Steam or Origin, you'll have to fix this by finding the correct directory.

You see, these pseudo DRM outfits want to use their own structure rather than the one that has been in use since the game was first released over 10 years ago.  They don't care if they screw up after-market programs like the reader and the BAT.

It didn't find mine automatically either, you just need to manually point it to the correct directory by selecting Option/Options in the file menu and set SimCityLocale dat file to the locale file usually installed here "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\*****\SimCityLocale.DAT". ***** = the language you are using, there are multiple folders for this.

In fact you don't need this for the Reader to work, but it's worth a minutes effort to shut up the annoying dialog.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.
