If you have the Cities of Tomorrow EP, you can plop a Ground Scrubber, which will rid parts or all of your city of ground pollution :)

Yo, why bulldoze? Let the trees do the work, and get CoT and get ground scrubbers! Or deal with the pollution, get a hospital, and get another city too offer water!

That's part of the game, my friend. When you decide to develop heavy industries like petroleum or mining, you have to take into account the environmental impacts and try to mitigate the damage. In real life, there are sites that are unusuable for residential development because of contamination by industrial wastes (Google "Superfund"). The same thing will happen in SimCity, especially if you don't have the infrastructure to remove the wastes safely.

Its these kind of challenges that make the game fun for me, always striving for perfect harmony but always just out of reach, so much fun

    Cheers

I decided to revisit SimCity over the weekend. it lasted no more than an hour. the traffic jams jusyt got too much. even with the udon mod. it didn't help. if you have a low population it works great but soon as you start getting into higher populations they come out of the woodwork even with mass transits.

I've given up. looking to buy SimCity 4 now...

I have found you can manage a fairly large population without much traffic issues with a well planned road layout especially with UDON, what size population are you talking about when you give up.

Well it must be just me then, soon as I hit 60-75+ it gets really clogged up. I've tried one way streets etc no good. This really irks me.

Post some pics of your layouts. I don't usually see any major traffic problems in cities smaller than 150,000 people, and with UDON you can vastly increase the capacity of your road network. If you have chokepoints or excessive intersections, those will usually do you in.

If you can't seem to build enough capacity to handle your traffic, you could try reorganizing traffic patterns to reduce stress on your roads. Traffic problems commonly occur when players encourage too much commuting, either within the city or between cities. Building small local commercial districts rather than a centralized downtown can help significantly, especially in a low-wealth city. Also you can try rezoning areas to alter the facing of buildings, as too many driveways close together can cause traffic backups due to hundreds of cars trying to enter the same stretch of road simultaneously.

Last night I tried a circular city.. Wasn't too bad but the higher density it got the more clogged it got. So I give up.
