I know if I were to look hard enough I'd more than likely find what I'm looking for, but after searching for the past few hours I've come up with nill. I'm looking for a dark grass texture mod and a dark green tree controller - both looking as realistic as possible. I know such a thing exists because I used to have one installed, only I can't for the life of me find the one I was using. If anyone uses something fitting to what I'm looking for, could you share? I don't mean to be in inconvienience with questions leaning towards the basic side, but I'd much appreciate it. Thanks :)

EDIT: ploppable forests would be nice also, but I can't seem to find any good ones period?

You need to be more specific--do you have any screenshots of what the tree and terrain mod (I assume that's what you're talking about) looked like? Pictures really help in this situation...

I take it you lost all your SC4 data in a hard drive crash. That sucks; you better make sure to back it all up in the future. Speaking of which, I should do the same!

I found this old photo. I'm not so much looking for the same controller, so much as I'm looking for a controller of the same effect. The dark green is what I really want, something that'll look nice. So I'm open to suggestions. And yeah I lost most all my stuff. Damnnnnn!

    Have a look here.

I am using an old PEG MTP tree mod that gives pine forests.  There are several MMP tree offerings as well, all dark pines.  To go with this you might want the Brigantine water mod as well.

I think that terrain mod is the Sudden Valley terrain mod by Gobias is what you're using. The download link is here: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=2867 (you need to have an account on the LEX in order to download stuff there)

The Brigantine water mod was among the first mods I ever downloaded and I don't think I could ever part with it. Pegasus is like christmas, after browsing around for a while I've got all the trees I could need and then some. The only thing I'm lacking now is a terrain mod - Sudden Valley keeps causing CTD. I've installed it with the water mod, without it, i've removed other mods I thought might be messing with it, all to no avail. I'll keep searching for a terrain mod which cooperates, I guess :)

Make sure you have all the dependencies and don't have any other terrain mods installed.

Conflicting terrain mods don't cause crashing; the game just takes the textures from the terrain mod that loads last.

@OP:  if the game is crashing from the terrain mod, it means you need to go into settings and adjust your video rendering mode from 'software' to 'hardware'.  AFAIK that's the only way for a terrain mod to crash (tree controllers, otoh....). IMO you should really go with Sudden Valley: it's the best one out there.  If it's not for you try Lowkee's Appalachian.

In my article here you can find a comprehensive list of HD terrain/rock/water/beach mods (all the way at the bottom).  If you like brigantine, try out the Brigantine 2.0 HD by shoktherapy.  Also, those trees in your pictures are old subalpine fir MMPs from one of C.P.'s tree controllers.  Currently, giraffe has much nicer HD subalpine firs.  Go to the LEX and use search tools > by author > girafe to score all his HD tree goodness.  I'd recommend going with a newer controller than CP's, like Vortext's Aerden or my Cascadia, but tree controllers are finicky beasts and you should only tamper with them once you've confirmed all your other new installs are running fine first.

    Happy nature-ing.  :P

I changed the rendering to hardware, and now Sudden Vally is working fine. I accquired a little lag in the process, but that's alright. blunder you answered my question with flying colours! Thanks  :) I'll have a look through your suggestions soon - I've been browsing custom content for a few hours and I wanna play for a while now. I think I can definately call this an improvement, though!

Just remember that thick forests consist of trees and each tree is an object in the simulation loop.  They all take processor cycles.  It isn't only the Sims and the lots that use up your CPU.

With a seasonal tree controller, the game will lag for a moment when the season changes. Just something to be aware of, so you won't freak out and be like "is it gonna crash?"

Very good point.  When I get a pause like that I usually go raid the ice box.  Usually things are back to normal when I get back.

However, today I played one city for two and a half hours and got so involved I forgot to do internal saves.  When I finally remembered, the game hung on the save request.  Lost the whole session, but not the city.  Had to kill the process from an alternate desktop after waiting about fifteen minutes.  It seems nothing I did in that session made it to the disk.  This was totally my fault, and I felt like an idiot.
