Real Railway Mod Questions

Hello,

Sorry about the somewhat vague title, but I cannot think of one that fits my question/problem. First off, I downloaded NAM v32 and read and heard that it contains the Real Railway Mod. If this is the case, then my first question will be, "why hasn't it replaced the Maxis Railroads?" In addition, I cannot find any file pertaining to a Real Railway mod within my computer. The next and final question if my previous assumption is incorrect (NAM containing Real Railway), then where can I find the mod?

Thank you for your time. Also, if "you" need more information, I'll be happy to give it.

Under NAM Networks and Network Expansions, check everything in Rail and remember to uncheck any alternate railway textures (an option further down; these will override the RRW and cause mayhem and despair). At this moment, for proper viaduct appearance, use the grey rail viaducts, and then use Rivit's RRW upgrade mod (here on the STEX) to change the color to something else (if you so choose). The other viaducts don't seem to display properly in certain pieces and rotations with the new RRW textures (though they work just fine).

Well, actually, you don't have to check everything, but you probably want elevated/viaduct rail as well as Single-track rail (underground you can leave unchecked; I have it and have never used it once since I don't understand it). The real key here is that RRW remains checked.

The rule to remember is that the NAM is a very large mod that requires exploration; not all features are listed. I consider myself a fairly advanced user who's reasonably familiar with all the options and am getting a handle on some of the more advanced techniques. Even knowing completely what I wanted out of the NAM32 I spent a good hour going through the readme and the installer before making sure I had everything I wanted and even then I had to reinstall a second time because I was hasty the first go-around. The lesson is not that you should be intimidated, but rather cautious and thorough in examining all your options, particularly when it comes to getting stuff set up right. Hope this helps

And do remember that RRW in NAM 32 is in initial release and is under development.

I did a recommended set up with NAM 32 and I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. I do not see the updated textures in the game.

There are lots of conflicting mods. Anything that changes the rail textures, including Rivit's original Railway Upgrade mod, the PEG rail mod, and countless others, must be removed.

If you do standard NAM, do you know all of the files that need to be removed? I know I'm asking a lot here.

Because custom content is really very personal, it is hard to specify what may be invalidated between sets.  When the new NAM 31 came out, I did a complete review and removed anything transport related (to another folder) before installing the NAM.  I even removed the previous NAM.

All things being considered, I think you are probably in this position.

After the clean up and installation of the NAM, it is easy to review and put things back until something breaks.

Well you need to do a custom installation and manually select the RRW, as it's a dev release. It doesn't come in the standard install.
