Custom Residentials wont grow

Hey,

it seems I am having huge problems with my custom residential buildings. I installed the maxis block all buildings plugin from dusktrooper and the original houses don't start to grow as expected (the blocker is this one: ).

Afterwards I downloaded dozens of custom buildings (a.e. gascookers uk terraces, suburbans and high streets and many others from other people) but they wont grow, too. All residential areas are connected to streets, water, power etc.. Theres no problem with that, because I have tested this before with the original maxis buildings before I installed the blocker.

I have carefully doublechecked that I have all neccessary dependancies. There shouldnt be any missing.

I even tried this: I deleted everything from plugin folder in order to prevent complications with other pugins. Then I reinstalled only one custom house from gascooker plus dependancies, but still it wont grow!

The game finds all other plugins ( such as ploppables, but also commercial buildings that are growable). There shouldnt be any problem with the plugin folder.

Does anyone have a master idea excepted reinstalling?

Thanks :(

Try setting "build all styles at once".  (open the section with the T-square).

What about putting zzz_ infront of the file name to make it load last?

It sounds like you don't have enough residential BATs with the necessary growth stages. For example, you could have downloaded thousand of custom residential BATs, but if none were modded as stage 1, then your town would never begin to grow. Also, you will need a good variety of each of the wealth levels ($, $$, and $$$). I could go into further detail, but I'm not around my computer, so hopefully you can start searching older threads to get a better idea of how growth stages work.

If growth stage is a problem, try removing the mod and see if you get growth.  This will confirm the blockage was that.  I have quite a few sets of R lots, but I don't inhibit Maxis stuff.  It really isn't all that intolerable if you have enough other stuff.

I am unsure about what you mean. I installed the CAM Mod which modifies the growth stages I think. It was a neccessary download for some of my buildings. Do you mean I should uninstall the CAM?

    Thanks!

Do not uninstall CAM.  However CAMelots only have large, late stage buildings.  Installing CAM requires manipulation of at least one of the base game files.  Did you do that?

If you uninstall CAM you'll have to start a new region.

The mod to remove is the Maxis Blocker.  This is an experiment to see if you get your low level lots.  If you do it indicates that without the Maxis lots you don't have any such lots.  You'll have to get them from the exchanges.  If you intend to continue without the Maxis lots, don't save after the test.

Did you unpack the zip file?  The unpacked file(s) go in your C:\<your account>\Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder.

    hey and thanks :)

    - I installed CAM. What do I have to manipulate on the base game files?

    - I already removed the maxis blocker and the maxis residential low level lots started to grow. Theres no problem with that. But the custom buildings never grow, even though I downloaded a lot of low and medium level residential lots. I also installed them correctly into the plugin folder + dependancies. :(

I am having no problems with custom industrial and commercial lots. They grow!

If you didn't have CAM before, you need to follow the installation instructions carefully.  I tried it long ago and decided it was not for me.  I don't run it any more and am not sure about how to install it now.  You should probably also pick up some CAMelots (lots designed specifically for higher levels) to get later stages with some neat stuff.

To get your custom lots to grow, open the panel with the T-square on it and set "build all styles at once".  If this doesn't do it, I'd be surprised.  Are these R lots low enough in stage?
