Long Commute Time

I as mayor in my city decided to push forward many programs to eradicate traffic jams in street like HSR, Bus Stop, Subway, and One Way road, to push down the traffic jams in residential and commercial I decided to change all the "road" to "one way road" (I think this is good enough to push down traffic jam) the result is very satisfactory, High congestion road very little, just one or two, but somethings happening, some building is abandoned due to "Long Commute Time" and I notice my commute time graphic is touched to 90 and the worse thing is I found jobs (350.000) in my city is lower than Residential (510.000) which means there are high number of sims who are not working. Anyone have solution with this? and by the way, what is long commute time?

PS : when I compare to other city that use "Road", I found that it has Residential Lower than Jobs, and from here I came to the conclusion that "One Way Road" is cause of them, is that right?

Long commute times are usually solved with the NAM.  What is the build level of your game?  To find out use windows explorer to find the file SimCity 4.exe, then examine the properties (version).

Jobs should never be as high as your population. People have kids and stay-at-home moms, you know. The only reason you should ever have a job count as high as your population is if you have an improperly installed CAM or I-HT fix, which causes a counting error. Proper installation of both of these results in a balanced job count of around 2 people for every one job, which is generally realistic, though less so now than it used to be. Unemployment is indicated by the no job zots above homes. If you don't have these, then your Sims are finding work and you need not worry.

If your commute times went up after upgrading to one-way roads, I suggest checking the morning and evening commute routes for random R buildings. It's easy to cut off some Sims from the one-way roads, but they all need to make a complete circuit. It may be impossible for some of them to leave their homes!

I am beginning to suspect this member has not got the proper updates because they won't install.  We all know why.

610 is the base game, U.S. traffic style (right hand drive).  You need to download this and install it to get to level 1,1,638,0.  To get to level 640 (the highest for CD installs) you need this.  Both of these are executables, and should just be run in order.  If any fail, post again.

The first patch fixes the known bugs that were found shortly after the game release.  The second one allows night-light textures to work on custom content.

NAM requires the first patch to load at all.  You must have seen the error comment.
