Hello everyone.

I'm curious. Am I able to raise or lower in game props to suit my needs?42.gif See picture below>

In this example (from my cj), I would like to put (in the LE) the prop pool (1) on the roof of this building (2). However in the LE I'm unable to raise the pool prop off the ground (or below it for that matter). Is there a way to manipulate this (or any) prop so I can raise it or lower it to any height I want?
Thanks in advance44.gif

Why of course you can! Just select a prop, then push [Ctrl]+[uparrow] to raise it by 0,1 unit. If you push [Ctrl]+[shift]+[uparrow], you raise it by 1,0 units. Obviously, use the same combination with [Downarrow] to lower props.

Btw, that's also in the manual that can be found in the LE directory on your HD.

One thing that might occur is that the LOD of your building is so inconveniently made that you can't get a prop on it to look just right. Anyway, make sure you check the position from all angles - if you tried to put a blinking light on top of an antenna or a smoke effect on top of a smokestack, you know that it can be very tedious to get the position just right.

EDIT: oops too late.
Yes there is a way,  use the ctrl key, and the arrow keys, for small lifts, plus the shift key [with the ctrl] for faster lifts.  I hope I got that right, and I don't have them reversed.  Anyway try it and you can figure it out.

    You're welcome. 1.gif

Btw, I always find those arrows you use to indicate where you have problems to be a waste of 1337ness... they just look too good for such a simple purpose. Then again, they allow me to say that I've never been pointed to a problem in a graphically more stylish and appealing way. 18.gif

Hey Steve, I thought I would mention that I have recently learned something of interest in raising props.  The higher you raise the prop, the more difficult it is to set it in the place you want it and have it look the same from all angles.......I had a water tower prop that I was going to place on top of the new building that Jason and I are working on.  Because of the height of the building, it just didn't work.  We are ending up having to render the model with the water tower in place.  Anyway, just a little good to know information.

Hey Dan. Yes I have realized that9.gif It's funny how you mentioned it2.gif

It certainly takes trial and error to get things to look right.
Thanks for the tip anyway my good friend.44.gif

Some of the props you can never get right from every angle, in every zoom level.  The worst are the animated props, such as lights.  Trying to get that plumb bob set right is a real pain.
