Running a plopped city

Hi guys,

Well, I couldn't hold myself. I said to myself: I'll just experiment a bit building a CBD, but I'll remove it afterwards. However, at the moment, I like what I've built so much that I don't want to demolish it (see below). Problem is, this CBD provides about 80,000 jobs, but I hardly have any residential population in my region. So my question is, what can I do to prevent this CBD from getting abandoned totally? Anyone who has experience with this? I was thinking about starting a neighbouring city which should provide all the necessary workforce. Opinions? Thanks guys!

Yeah I would suggest building a couple of cities with R and I only and not play the plopped city at the moment till you can start supplying workers. Also you can try plopping only "eye candy" buildings that have no jobs then you don't have to worry bout that whole mess!!!

I tried plopping eye-candy lots as much as possible, but most of the buildings are simply only available with jobs. I thought about modding them myself, however that would take some time...

Since CBDs need a good amount of educated Sims, don't forget to place all the educational civics right from the start of any adjacent cities.

If you enjoyed making and are haply with this then imho I'd just keep doing it. Residential will not officially function as we all know, but if you just want candy there are work arounds. Do, you don't deserve it with nozots to eliminate the jobless icons, use a x4 demand mod (named rci multi ....) , then kill taxes to 0. Your population will end up as 0 in game, but if you use Daelys (spelling) regional census- that will count all the "trapped in their homes" prisoner/sims you have. Grant it inflated if you use the demand cheats.

While the plopping eliminates the economic side of the game- do it if you are enjoying it.

And if anyone flames ya for being a plopper and "killig the realism"- remind them that mayors in real life as of 3/3/14 are still unable to launch robot attacks on their citizens or create car factories the size of about 50 parking locations. :)

I don't care about "realism" in the sense of slowly growing a city and actually "playing" the game. My goal is to build realistic, good looking cities. I use money cheats all the time, and I don't care. However, I want my cities to be "alive" and not an eye-candy ghosttown, so I am not going to plop any residential, since this won't work, as you said.
