problems with updating

Hello, everyone! You know, I'm having some troubles with updating Sim City 4. I've downloaded UPDATE_SKU2_TO_P1_B638 from SC4 Devotion site, I've installed on my PC, but it says: "Old file not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." My computer works with Windows 7 operating system.

 

What can I do? Hopefully, this is fixable...

First of all, do you have a legitimate CD version of SimCity 4 Deluxe / RH?

If you've purchased a digital download (i.e. from Steam, Origin, GamersGate or Amazon), it already comes fully updated to 1.1.641.0.

 

Sometimes the patch may have actually been applied. Hovering over your SimCity 4.exe file will display the current version number.

I've got a legitimate CD version. The number of SimCity4.exe file is 1.1.610.0. You know, I want to install NAM, but it requires updating SimCity 4.

OK, have you tried any of the other versions?

This should match with the folder name inside "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Sku_Data"

 

Also it may help to extract the patch to your desktop, and right click to run as administrator.

 

Failing this, I suggest reinstalling the game (reboot your PC in between) and giving it another go.

610 is the North American version.  You need the first EP1.  It depends on the marketing origin of the game, not your domicile.

Hey

Not sure if this is the correct place to put this

but i just opened up the lot editor and it went all weird on me

It is flashing different shapes from the building that is menat to be in  the lot editor really fast

maybe some sort of graphic problem

i have put a image, dosent really show it to well, as it is changing super fast like heaps of different shapes and stuff

hard to explain

I also tried need for speed hot pursuit 2 (random game installed on computer) and it sort of was doing the same thing, just not as bad (only times it does it)

wondering if anyone knows the problem

You should start a new topic and be more specific.  Describe your machine in detail (and not by manufacturer's model number).

 

The Lot Editor doesn't do well with very large Plugin suites because it runs out of buffer space and may crash during loading.  You should make a cut-down plugins suite containing only the stuff you need for editing (putting your plugins back together later).

 

Your problem is probably related to this or to the settings on your GPU.

they got it fixed.. might of been doing updates to the site.. no biggie. got what I needed.. and saved them so I don't have to hunt for them again...lol

BTW you do not need the BAT update to install the NAM.  You only need to go to 1,1,638 which is also here.
