A tunnel mod, or...

I'm trying to put a tunnel under this raised section of a highway:

Problem is, I have no idea how.  Do I need a tunnel mod or something, or is this just not possible?  Keep in mind, this is through a raised piece of land, not from a sunken area.

Just leave 1 raised tile between both sides of the highway and drag the road through. But the problem is: streets cannot make tunnels. You have to use a road as a workaround. And there is no way to fix that because tunnels are hardcoded into the game's EXE.

Maybe it is to close to the end of the bridge. Try move one tile to the right. And like Geometry said, raise at least 1 tile each side of the highway.

I think you'll have to move at least four grids to the right.  You should then be able to use a FLUP.

Did a quick test. You can make road tunnel where you street is in the picture if the raised land is high enough and raise at least 1 tile each side of the highway.

There are some under-bridge lots that use subway to connect the road on other sides of the bridge.

Those could actually conflict with the NAM in some odd ways; it might not work as intended.

It says in the description that usage of these lots requires the disuse of the NAM Traffic Simulator, and I believe it recommends super-old versions of the Traffic Simulator instead; these things were made in 2008 so there could be plenty that could go wrong. Since the NAM Traffic Simulator is absolutely required for the proper function of everything in the NAM (and it's written in the RHW and NWM that it's required), there's no way those things could work.

Many transit stations fail to follow the recommended guidelines outlined here ( some of which were revised recently, so even more could go wrong), but since it's a transit station, it could be modded to work with the NAM again, but conversion of car traffic to subway traffic and back again doesn't sound like a very logical way to go, at least from the speed perspective; Subway is faster (far faster) than Road, so it could have an unintended speed bonus that could funnel more cars from their intended routes.

Plus, I've never seen a Subway conversion lot that works with switching freight trucks to subway and back (and it's doubtful that it's possible), so freight trucks are out of the question.

Plus, I think just expanding the surrounding terrain to put in a Road tunnel, as mentioned already, (tunnels require a minimum of three spaces, four in this case, between each tunnel cap to be created, and the tiles adjacent to each cap must be completely empty) would be the simplest of all solutions.

I guess that street tunnel don't exist in SC4, if I'm right, the nam team can do nothing about it, cuz it's hardcoded or something like this... :S

They're pretty much exe-locked, and we know this already from past experiments. RHW (most notably), Street, and El Rail* (surprisingly enough) don't have tunnel functionality at all. All you can ever do is add an exemplar to create a tunnel cap, but the game won't recognise it as a usable tunnel.

* - Subway doesn't count as a tunnel, and the El Rail to Subway Transition doesn't count as a puzzle piece.

When I need to do a RHW tunnel, I use ground highway (symphony) cuz it has almost the same appearance as RHW-4 (It's basically a RHW-4C with lil walls. And I end with a satisfactory result like this :D :D :D

It's a shame that EA made things a little hard to the ppl who saved this game from mud to mod some stuff of the game :S

There is a street on-slope FLUP piece.  If you're lucky, the embankment might be just the right height.  If not, you just need to add an extra tile of space to each side, and terraform it into a 10-meter high slope.

I don't think of the MHW/PS tunnels as being a true RHW tunnel, since it's only made for one width and one configuration, and that's a dual RHW-4-ish configuration. I consider it a borrowed tunnel, like one would do with an Avenue tunnel. If people call it an RHW tunnel, it may give the improper impression that RHW tunnels of differing widths are also possible, when they're not.

The description lists Traffic Simulator options that all say "Park and Ride" on them, which I guess is because the cars can't transfer to the subway if Park and Ride is selected.

I don't understand the logic of park'n'ride, some buildings have some parking lot, so... why nobody uses their cars to park there? It would be more logical. :Z

Try my Car To Subway+Extension pack. It's a good workaround.

This was all I needed, I just raised it on each side and switched it to a road :)
