hello everybody,

I'm wondering if there exist a mod, which shows me the drainage radius of mass transit stations?

Bus, Train, El Rail, etc..

That would be just wonderfull!

best

You mean "coverage," not "drainage."  Mass transit stations don't have coverage areas.  The distance Sims will walk to a station has been greatly increased by the NAM's traffic simulator.  I don't know what it is off the top of my head.  The distance they will drive is much further, but the station has to have parking facilities.

EDIT:  I looked it up, and there is no hard limit on how far Sims will walk.  However, since walking is very slow, they will not be able to work very far away.  The distance between your stations should depend on the density of the area.  In downtown, you might need a station every other block to avoid congestion.  But in low density suburbs, you can easily go over 20 tiles between stations.

Your best bet is to experiment to find the ideal distance between stations in your cities.

They will walk all the way across a large tile if they have to.  They have been observed to do so many times, almost always when the user selects "Park & Ride" in the TSCT and then fails to build additional parking facilities.

I suppose the max commute trip has been turned all the way up.  And it would take less than an hour to walk across a large city tile.  I can see it.  Not the ideal commute, but it could happen in real life.

I'll have to go back and read the relevant parts of your simulator studies.

    Bicycles! Where are the bicycles?

According to the traffic simulator, they don't exist, and there's also no way to add it in as a distinct travel type that's separate from pedestrians or cars. It's been something that's been suggested on and off for years, and it always leads to same answer: We're limited with what we have to work with.

Oooh... That suggests a new mod: Turn peds into cycles! If one is willing to give up ordinary walkers, then "pedestrians" could be upgraded to bicycle speed and distance. There are plenty of cities now carrying cycles on trains and buses, so the transitions to and from mass-transit are even reasonable.

Pedestrian speed, under the NAM, is already tuned up to 15km/h, or 9.3mph. That's around biking speed, but the main reason why pedestrians are so fast is so that the Transit Simulator can consider walking to be useful.
