Question about residential zoning

Hi,

Is there a way to control what wealth levels develop in different areas of a city?  I recently downloaded the IRM mod which helps control which types of industry develop in different areas.  (I love it!)  So that got me thinking... I find it kind of annoying that unless I tax them out of existence, medium-wealth sims flood my cities.  I'd like to have some areas with high/medium wealth sims, and some that remain low wealth.  I think that is more realistic plus it looks more appealing to me.  Right now I'm working on a city that is all low-wealth, I'm getting this by keeping taxes too high on wealthier sims.  I'd like to have a nice mix though in some cities and some control over what sims move in where... other than just providing no services to areas I want to remain low-wealth.  (I like to keep my poor sims healthy and educated as well.)  Is there a way to do this?

Thanks :)

Haven't come across a mod that treats Rs like the IRM but it would be nice.

You can always deny the area water. That will help keep things poor but not completely.

Only other way I know of is using the "Historical" feature. When you query the building, there is a check box you can select. This will lock buildings from upgrading till you unlock them, or bulldoze what's there.

Mixing dirty industrials with residential zoning, coupled with a "Less Abandonment mod"' (which prevents buildings from growing in places below 40% desirability), is almost always going to produce a low-wealth city, and while some middle wealth homes might pop up, they get abandoned after some time and enhance the low-weathness of the area.

Thanks for the replies :) it helps

One question, about the "historical" feature: does clicking that prevent a building from abandonment?  I've been hesitant to use it because I thought, if I click it on a nice building I like, it could still get abandoned for whatever reason.  Does it work like that?

No. The building can still be abandoned.
