No income from selling utilities.

I have just started my second city and after building a power plant and 4 sewage plants I have tried to sell these utilities to my 1st city. Everything seems to be fine as the first city seems to be getting power and sending the sewage out no problem but I am not gaining any income in my second city from selling these utilities for some reason.

 

Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?

You tried to sell? I am pretty sure you can only buy power, water, etc. from the city with the abundance. Then, the city with the abundance should receive the funds.

This was my understanding also. As another tip make sure you donate all of you fire, police and ambulance to the region. You get money for it and it doesn't effect the coverage in your city.

It's possible you do get the income but it isn't recorded in the budget and just silently added. I've never noticed one way or another...actually my current cities have been successfully buying, but the seller isn't even showing anyone buying after running both several game months. Heh. Anyway I just discovered that bit about donating vehicles which is really cool.
