First, I thank you all for all your efforts to make SC4 a much better environment. I have no problem installing the "patches" using the RPatch program, but how do you install the .kbi files. I am looking forward to reaping their benifits. Thank you for helping a newbie

Installation:
To install, use the RPatch utility that can be found on this site:
http://www.pucechan.com/~sc4dev/

Point the program to the proper files and hit apply, a delay will be noticed as the program updates your DAT file
with the new settings, do not attempt to close before you see the "Successful" update. Be patient.

This was created with the English version of SimCity 4.

***Locate the file in the loading screen that pops up when you click open. Now Click Select Folder and Find your Sim City 4 Directory. Highligt the Directory then Click OK. now click Apply. (I recommend backing up the file)

I hate to dig up an old thread here (but it was either this, or my making another thread on the same topic), but the http://www.pucechan.com/~sc4dev/ link appears to be dead, its a search portal or something.
So where else can i get the file to install the *.kbi files?

Assuming i finaly do get it, which BAT file does it update (so i know which to make a backup of)? Simcity_1.DAT?

Don't bother using KBI files... we've got .dat files we can create now that are like patches, but don't have to edit anything in the original SimCity .dats. I'm not sure where you'd get a patcher nowadays, however.

Hmm, would i be correct in assuming that the Modding files section is very out of date?
Theres an old version of the NAM there, and a bunch of kbi files and such.
Are there newer ones on the actual stex? Wait, i can answer that last one myself.

The problem is little people have access to update the modding section. Toroca shows himself on average once per every few months and I'm not so sure how much ralphaelninja has been around...

Yeah, http://www.pucechan.com/~sc4dev/  has been dead for a looong time... The easiest way to convert kbi files to dat files is to use the ILive Reader.
There is a download site online for the reader (not http://www.pucechan.com/~sc4dev/ ) but I don't remember what it is.

Just use Google, and search for the phrase, ILive Reader. It should be simple to find from there.

The problem with the mods section is that most of the files contained in the STEX are copies of software and files from other sites. Yes, it's out-of-date...
Usually, the easiest way to find up-to-date software is to find it first in the STEX, then search for certain phrases on Google. Once you find the home site for a program, getting updates is easy...
