Development of a generic American city using San Francisco Region starting with settlement to about 1930. Then I will go through 50's freeway construction/ suburbanization to 2012 monorails. Tried to keep buildings with historical accuracy but vanilla SimCity 4.

As a fellow vanilla player this looks awesome. Love how you shown the growth over the years and how the small towns have spread out.

Looking forward to more.

Not quite vanilla I use lotplop and moolah. Without lotpplop I would not get skyscrapers. I played for years and struggled to get skyscrapers without lotplop. In fact some of those skyscrapers are the first times I've ever had them in a city.

Yes, there are some 70's buildings in the 30's pictures! LOL. It looks like a great city and bigger than my cities ever were!

I never had that two skyscrapers in front of the picture! :(

And also a mod that removes the yellow border when pausing. Anyway, nice vanilla city (I thought it was built on SC4 without RH).

yep there are modern buildings my bad. I should have left it on 1890's Chicago tileset. And I don't have streetcars either my bad again. I will finish this city journal then get NAM. My CD's from simtropolis haven't arrived. I ordered them a week ago and I live in Canada I don't know whats taking them so long. I am in love with the pointy skyscrapers of the turn of the century back when the free market was free. But the 50's I going to empty out downtown I just jammed an elevated expressway down the coastline like the Gardiner in Toronto and Roosevelt in New York. Plus after MLK gets shot large parts of the city will burn then I will make housing projects, and suburbanize.

Thank you very much. I've been playing SimCity a lot all my life I hope i'm good at it by now, but this is my first real experience with downloading from simtropolis. Its not very vanilla as I use cheats lot plot and moolah, and I downloaded that target and mcdonalds and convenience stores, certain musts for an American city. I can't get my dam walmart to work though ugh! My next CJ I'm gona try to cover North American history better though. Next post for this one will correspond with the 80's once I hit about 1 million people. Downtown will remain stagnant for now I will try to suburbanize my office demand first then add 80's style skyscrapers downtown. I feel personally I have no facts though that the 50's to 70's was a bit stagnant on skyscraper construction, just WTC. But a lot of skyscrapers in LA and Chicago, Houston, look 80's style. Plus just look at American city data on population in Wikipedia that tells you about downtown developments urban vs. suburban development in America over time. Were as Canada is a whole other issue with an equally diverse urban landscape.

remember you pointed out the 70's buildings in the 30's so I am not going to mention dates anymore. Next time I will try to maintain the Chicago 1890's set.

no that's a target I downloaded sorry not as vanilla anymore. But to tell you the truth there is many buildings I found with lotplop that I never saw appear in the vanilla game over years of gameplay. But compared to all the other CJ's I see this is very vanilla.
