Getting the MIS to go through an avenue.

I am currently engaged in an attempt to create a realistic diamon interchange.  Unfortunately, anytime I try to bring the MIS up the slope alongside the highway and get it up to the overpass (the intersection in this case is an avenue overpass) the game keeps telling me that "Unsuitable area to build network."

 

However, I can put roads though the damn thing just fine.

 

It's also worth mentioning that when I can get them done properly on occasion, the MIS intersecting with the avenue just doesn't seem to look right.

Sounds like you have a slope mod installed and it has more restrictive settings for RHW than it does for Road. However, a screenshot of the area would be useful.

Well, he states that the game spits out "Unsuitable area to build network", while the error for a restrictive slope mod is "Unsuitable grade for construction". Probably he's using an NWM road and tried to drag the MIS through a starter which is not allowed.

So I assume I can't just drag it through an on-slope piece?

You have to drag the stubs on both sides of the on-slope piece.  There's a tile in the middle that you can't drag through, I believe.
