Problem increasing density

I have a city that appears to be doing well. Almost all residence are happy, and the population has swelled, but no buildings are moving to maximum density.

There appears to be enough room, so I don't understand the problem. This is my second attempt at this city, and the first version had this problem as well.

Here are some screenshots of my city:

Uh... pretty sure you're at maximum density in those pictures....

The first clue? You have 500k+ population. You wouldn't reach that without high-density.

There are only three densities: low, medium, and high.

If you click on a building, the info window will pop up. There will be two bars, each split into three segments: One for wealth level ($/$$/$$$) and one for Density. The density one is the bar on the bottom half of the window. If all three of those bars are filled in with solid green, you're at maximum density.

No, there are no maximum density buildings in my city. All are medium density. You can reach 500k+ without high density.

Your city actually does have maximum/high-density buildings hence the darker blues found in the image where you show your density. As you probably already know, your city is mostly poor that's why the population is so high. I actually want more poor residents in some of my cities, but to the extent that you have yours.

Are you expecting taller, more modern looking buildings? Those only appear as your city's wealth increases, therefore you need more parks but expect a major population decrease as the wealth of your city increases.

    Good luck friend.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, the city is almost completely low wealth. I've been experimenting with that the last couple days. Not sure if there are benefits to having higher wealth citizens I don't know about.

As for the density, every building I click on is listed as medium density. I can't find any high density buildings in my whole city. I tried dezoning some areas to create more room, in case there was a space problem, but it didn't change anything.

Sorry, but I think you're mistaken... you have high density. It's not the easiest to determine from your screenshots because of the distance/angle/overlays, but I assure you, those are standard LW3D (low wealth, high density).

I've taken some comparison screenshots to show you:

    Here's the album: https://imgur.com/a/q4TSo

    Here are the individual screens:

Looking at those in comparison with your screenshots, it is clear from the height of the buildings that they those are not LW2D buildings.... Medium Density buildings are just not that tall.

The other point which supports this is that your one screenshot shows the building with 6,600 happiness... but

You can reach 500k+ without high density.

LW2D buildings hold 60 residents each.... care to do the math on that and explain how you'd reach 500k+ without high density? Because if you figured out a way to do it, that's going to be pretty impressive.
