Dealing with homeless

So far I have not found a way to remove or reduce the number of homeless in a few of my cities. I have one city that has 60K pop, shows -18K/hr loss (due to 7600 in city specialization) BUT is making a lot of money from Metal and Alloy sales. I have elementary and high schools all maxed out including busses and bus stops, I have Community College and a University, plenty of police coverage, yet I still have a city with homeless ALL OVER..... so what the fix for this or do I just not worry about it? It is Jan of Year 4 in this city and i am sitting on $6.4 mil and making more with metal and alloy so money is there but don't want to go hog wild on expensive fixes if it doesn't really affect much.

Apparently homeless are low wealth sims that have run out of money or are unemployed! I'm not too sure how to reduce there numbers as I once had over 200 homeless and 5 mins later this had reduced to less than 100!

Having low wealth sims in the city is the cause of homeless AFAIK. So focusiing on them might reduce the no. of homeless in the city if not out right eliminate them.

I've found it's better to have unfilled jobs than unemployed people.

Zone less residential.

Acually what I found to help was a few more low wealth parks, a little MORE low wealth high density residential, and removing some plazas to force some commercial to drop down to low and med wealth and now at least 2 of these cities have almost no homeless left over. Sure some of the R and C complain they want to increase wealth but i just ignore that, that -18K has also dropped to 7K and even more metal/alloy profits.

I find lowering my low wealth residential tax rate to 0% eliminates almost all homeless within a few hours. This is the only method I have gotten to work with any consistency as long as there's enough new construction for them to move in to.

Once you lower your rate, open your population detail and watch your homeless number drop! Make sure you have enough homes zoned for them to all live in.

I have found having unfilled jobs seems to b ok as long as there is not too many so that buildings don't have workers! It a fine balance as once commercial buildings move to high density they need a lots of workers, same with industry!

agree with a combination of the above

tax low wealth less than 8% + no garbage + no abandoned buildings

the abandoned buildings seems to be a big thing. forgot about them once after a zombie breakout and only 3-4 had hundreds of homeless wandering around

I agree with this thought.  until my city is extremely profitable? The only parks I use are the "Nature" level ones. which are relatively cheap and so when money does fluctuate you don't have to worry about tearing them down .,... and better yet, they are a little bit less likely to attract the homeless  that are wandering your streets. when compared to way, a plaza or a large sculpture. which is like a magnet, for them!
