    update time!

    Phase 5 - included
    >> including the new office furniture
    >> intensifying the lighting to combat the new furniture's shadowing effects
    >> playing around with the citigroup sign on top (i think Citigroup's font is Arial Unicode MS)

and here is the progress pic
    /idealbb/files/citi55.jpg

bear in mind that ive only done one side, as i get this side perfected, the others will run smoothly.  thanks for all the response on the project.  i didnt know it has this much of a following.

    Phase 6 will include
    >> furniture on all sides of the building
    >> mullions on the back two sides
    >> maybe a retexture of the building, as it looks too aqua right now
    >> and start of the base lighting

    see you then!

sort of a mini update, but i need your help

recently i added the last 3 sides for the night shot, and when i came back to preview, the building got a bit brighter!  tell me, should i go dimmer, or should i keep it at this intensity?

myself, i kindof like it intense, but its up to you guys!

BTW - pay no attention to the missing textures, just a BAT burp or somtehing.

believe it or not, this is an update.  although it may not seem like it, i uncovered the biggest problem on this tower, and now that its resolved... im much happier.  i had hid roof junk till i was gonna reattach it back on the tower, but i failed to realize that it was in fact 120K polys.

    /idealbb/files/citi656.jpg
BTW - got the sign back up!  also, i decreased the amount of lights in the tower, as it was frying my machine!

lookin great n7! the reduced lights look better anyways, are you using omni lights? what are the stats to it? intensity, decay... (unless you've used the resizing tool on them, then the numbers would be dif). also, how did you get the windows to be dark at night, but see though durring the day? reduced opacity?

edit: also, i liked the bigger sign earlier, which one will you use?

omnis are fairly easy to use when in a building/room

i generally use an omni of 3-6 intesities but the beauty of the system is in the Attenuation parameters.

under Attenuation i use the near setting - 0/40 usually.
then i stretch the verticalness of the omni area down so it only lights one floor.

decay is used in conjunction with Attenuation.

and yes to get the windows dark in the day and see through at night i use an opacity of...60-80

the sign needed to be put back on, and i mightve made it too small, no worries though, its an easy fix.  the red umbrella is a different story though....

very cool, i think i'll try lighting one of my buildings like this in the near future. i have never toyed with Attenuation before, i've always just relyied on intensity and decay to get the effect i wanted.

so what is up with the red umbrella?! that's the best part of this building! haha, ok, maybe not, but it is a cool part of it :P
