Phoenix7 and Artur: Slacker over at Simsports made the billboards and the look fantastic. I like the way that Dunlow turned out too. Dunlow is one of my more formally planned cities; most are rather "organic".

Schulmanator: What you can't see is that many people brought their cats to the torch relay. They obviously thought that humans waste a ridiculous amount of time on silly things.

Flyinbird and Sobol: Thanks for your kinds comments!

Update: Stanley Metropolitan Area, Nalsa Islands

With the Nalsa Islands enjoying some success at the current Winter Simlympics Exhibition in York, Rorysville, here is an update with a tour of the Nalsa Islands' largest city.

There is an indoor ice rink in Stanley and it is possible to ski in the Nkobe Mountains during winter. This, and immigration from northern Europe, have resulted in the popularity of winter sports like ice skating and ski jumping in the Nalsa Islands.

Welcome back! I haven't seen your CJ before and I must say that this is pretty amazing! Everything is so well organized. The zone date looks very good, nice to see someone who isn't plopping too much stuff and just lets everything grow 4.gif

    Keep up the good work!

Looking really awesome! That downtown Stanley is beautiful, as well as Penelope Cove. Also your billboards and websites are beautifully done. Looking forward to all the new development.

    Thanks for the comments, guys!

Here are some highlights from two unique towns in West Nalsa County:

As you can see, I had to patch a few city squares together for that shot.

Computer Guy - thanks for the comment.

Jacqulina - thank you - you always take time to look and comment.

Petrovar Ambassador - Dunlow is cool, but my favourite is coming up today. 2.gif

    Update

Today I'm going to begin a three-part "miniseries" on the last part of the Nalsa Islands that I haven't shown much of yet: Milton.

Milton may be my favourite SimCity creation. It's not got the natural beauty of Jaqulina's creations nor the cool architecture of the spectacular cities I see here on Simtropolis, but among all of its repetitive buildings, Milton has a very unique city structure that was a lot of fun to build and a cool place to build a city.

Milton is inspired by some of my favourite cities: it's laid out a lot like Wellington, NZ with a touch of San Francisco, CA; has the personality of Seattle, WA; and plays second fiddle to another, slightly larger, city like Melbourne, Vic.

So, without further ado, I present Milton (part 1 of 3):

Here are some more pictures from Milton:

    3332285286_a79c2537b6_o.jpg

This is one of my favourite setttings for a suburban community. I hate that the town centre is ugly Maxis office buildings instead of some of the Aussie or English shops I've loaded up. I try bulldozing and redeveloping, but this is what I get. Even city planners are sometimes subject to whims of the real estate market...

Wow, the city of Milton looks great! I like how you developed up the side of those hills, it really looks good. I really like the way your CBD looks too.

Twenty20, Petrovar Ambassador and Selles - Thank you very much for the comments!

Today, I'm going to finish the tour of both Milton and the Nalsa Islands. We'll be heading to Milton's North Shore and to the west, and ending up out of town at the farthest point in the Nalsa Islands, The Pinnacle.

For grins, I decided to try to fix two problems:

One, I tried again to get some shops, instead of ugly brown office towers in New Wellington. This time, it worked!

Second, I not only turned off the grid for The Pinnacle, but I added a lava rock mod.

    3333902335_20d72f03e6_o.jpg

It's better, but still no Starbucks!

It's so hard to pick out rocks...

Wow! Looking good. I really like downtown North Milton, great variety of buildings, and nothing too tall. I admire your ability to develop on hillsides, it makes the city so much more impressive.

I agree with you that it's hard to find a good rock mod. One looks good in certain landscapes, but not so good in others. I've experimented with so many, but I think I finally found one that works well with my region. I like the one you picked out for the Pinnacle - BTW, I love that name!
