Unfilled jobs vs unsold goods

So I'm debating between whether or not to include low wealth sims in my city. Im planning this out ahead of time using the spreadsheet someone provided on another forum. The problem is there will be roughly 5500 low wealth jobs total, and obviously there are no unsold goods bc there's no low wealth commercial. Now if I add 14 high density low wealth buildings, I can cover those 5500 unfilled low wealth jobs, BUT this creates 2800 low wealth shoppers. So then if I add 8 low wealth high density commercial buildings to cover their needs, it creates 3200 more low wealth jobs which will be unfilled. And the loop will continue like that. So my question is, is it better to have a bunch of low wealth unfilled jobs or better to provide low wealth buildings to cover the unfilled jobs and just not build commercial for them? Which is the lesser of two evils?

That doesn't sound right. I think shops should satisfy more shoppers than the number of workers they require.

In any case, parks and libraries also satisfy shopping demand without creating many jobs.

Yeah, I'm aware parks and libraries satisfy commercial needs, I just can't imagine how many id need to satisfy 5500 sims lol.

Good question. For starters, plop one 192-capacity $ park for each high density $ residential (make it adjacent). That should keep a sizeable number of $ shoppers happy for that building. Library per ever 2 high density $ residental should pick up some more shoppers. As for the rest, well, having a few unsatisfied shoppers shouldn't hurt.

Does anyone have real numbers for the number of jobs and goods that commercial buildings provide? And does a shopper need 1 good from a shop to become satisfied?

Honestly, I've found that happiness bonuses come more from the employed/working sims, than the shopping sims.  They seem to be more of a bonus happiness.  This will probably especially be important with the upcoming patch change:

    • Losing happiness due to not having a job is more impactful.

Unemployment is a far greater issue, it causes crime and homelessness.  When I zone, I generally zone a la carte with my industrial as a nice job sink.  1 High Density industrial provides a ton of jobs, usually enough to offset commercial.  At the end of the day you'd rather have commercial that's over saturated and never going out of business.

Low density shops need 10 low income workers. At least that's the way it looks to me. A small low density park (basketball, playgrounds, etc.) needs 5 low income workers. Not sure about the goods and higher densities but I would guess medium shops need 20 and high density shops need 200???

Someone should correct me if I am wrong.
