Hourly Rate

Hi all!

I have been building a small region, and I so fr have an oil, electrics/UNi and an ore/alloy town and both my oil and electrics city both lose money per hour ( electrics loses 12000!) and the Ore only make bout 600 with 12% tax on low wealth! Obviously I know services cost a lot but I have 159k pop in my electric city that should cover most my costs surely?! I have a police precinct in all my cities due to high crime and a hospital in 3 and 2 of them have a big fire station! Im not too concerned as all my cities are making big money thru trade! But I jus wondered if this was normal!

Yea thats perfectly normal. Your specialization costs you a lot of money (hourly) but gives you 0 hourly income (income comes from trade transactions). I have electronics city with -110k /h (taxes are 0% and there are few big police stations, hostpital etc) that was making very nice profit.

Its normal, but dont fall into the trap of providing every single thing your sims ask for....

 

Generally if your road layout is good you can cut back on alot of your public service buildings...
