What about Nelson Mandela?

First person who came to mind for me too.  He has just been released from hospital.  He is suffering from the effects of TB he got while in prison.

There is lots and lots of material.  So get busy, my lad.

If I was you, I would try to think about someone other than Nelson Mandela. Everybody else in class will do him. Impress the tutor by finding some other African who would fit the bill.

Libellibicus has a point there. You REALLY want to impress your teacher/instructor go with Dido the Queen of Carthage. She had plenty of hardships to get to be queen. Of course you can skip the last part of her life when she killed herself cause Aeneas dumped her!

Then there is Jomo Kenyatta, former president of Kenya, who as also a leader of the Mau Mau.  That may turn out to have more colour than your teacher likes.

Your right because 20% of my class is doing Nelson Mandela.

Why must iy be of African descent?

Because that is what the task is asking for.

Then there is Jomo Kenyatta, former president of Kenya, who as also a leader of the Mau Mau.  That may turn out to have more colour than your teacher likes.

that sounds interesting there. I think that may be the person I will write about.

great suggestion there but as I looked through the links, 80% of the class were writing about those people.
