Abandoned Buildings: Too much crime

I am constantly getting abandoned buildings due to "too much crime" yet there are only 3 crimes committed per day.  Is there a way to lower crime even more to avoid this or is it just another bug?

Click on the police shield and check that you have space left in your jail. If not, plop an extension. You need to keep felons in until they are rehabilitated, so have a bit of space.

Next, plop more patrol cars.

You should be able to get the number of crimes committed to nil, but the number of criminals and arrests will never drop to nil. In short, with more patrol cars when a crim attempts a crime your rozzers will go and apprehend him (or her) in the act. This will NOT be a crime committed. If the crim finishes up and does a bunk before the police turn up then you get a crime committed.

The police can't get the bus or streetcar, so if all your streets are gridlocked you'll never catch them.

I read elsewhere that habitual criminals require rehabilitation numerous times, sort of removing a "level" of criminality one at a time until (s)he repents.

Hope that helps.

Another tip to help this throughout your overall gameplay, build schools EARLY.  After a grade school is built, generate some cash and build a high school.  The more educated your Sims are, the less they should need to utilize services.  Also, make sure your coverage is green across your city.

Regular police can only arrest criminals once they have committed a crime. However, once there is a University with a School of Law in your region, you can build the Detective's Office module at a Precinct. A Detective can go into criminals' hideouts and arrest them pre-emptively.

^ That's what I do. :D

Also, if you have the French Police Station, you should use it over the normal one, and, if you're rolling in cash, maybe even over precincts. The french patrol cars go faster than the normal ones.

I have the same thing happening in my city.

I have a high school and a university with the law school

I also have the police precinect maxed out with police cars, a crime prevention wing, a detective wing, and an extra jail.

Yet the Sims are complaining about crime and only 4 crimes occur each day.
