New Project West Edmonton Mall

I would love to see some pics of your progress and some of the mall. I belive it's the biggest in the world. (well at least in 1991 it was)

The West Edmonton Mall is still the worlds largets mall, at 5.3 million square feet.  The Mall of America comes in second at 4.2 million square feet.  However phase II constuction of the Mall of America will add an additional 5.6 million square feet to the complex.  Basically adding over the entire square footage of the West Edmonton Mall to the Mall of America.  When completed, it will be nearly double the size of the West Edmonton Mall.

 

Can't believe someone finally took this project on.  This is one of my favorite buildings!

This is the size, scale, and lot sizes we need. They can be altered a bit, maybe even split into a third lot that would blend together. For the parking lot I think a mix of 1x1 lots could be used to finish the area.

Can't wait to start seeing updates on this project once you guys get it started.  I would pitch in, but I seem to have swamped myself for the time being.

 

I am, however, also going to be doing an average-sized real-life mall, and when my workload dies down I may attempt Syracuse, NY's Carousel Center, another mega-mall (which is expanding in an apparent attempt to be the US' largest).

west edmonton mall happens to be 5 minutes drive from my house (closest mall to my house) so i know it VERY VERY well.

i am not sure of the square footage because i dont want to do the math.

 

WEM is talking of another expansion.

 

They would add on a 25% increase of retail area, adding on floors because they have run out of room to expand outwards.  It would include the extra retail area (as mentioned), a second 12 floor hotel, a 12 floor office building, a 12 floor residential tower (i am not sure, but the res/com towers might be combined)..a 1200 seat arena/sports veiwing area (and its own hockey leauge) and some more sweet stuff.  this would be on top of its current renovation projects.
