Question about Oil Refining

I have a city with several oil wells and pump jacks.  I'm currently sending it all to an oil refinery and producing plastic that I'm exporting (and make huge profits on.)  I just started a second city in the region.  The second city also has a nice supply of oil under it.  My question is, am I able to export the oil to the first city's refinery, or do I need to plop down a new refinery in my new city?  It would save a lot of space and money if I could just send the oil over to my first city's refinery.

The only way to do this is to send your refining city gifts with oil, but you would get no money for your other city, unless the refining city sent money gifts to the other city.

And to make shipment between your cities easier, both cities should unlock the trade port.. If your cities share the same body of water or the same railroad, place your trade ports near to the shore or close to railroad. Next, from you trade ports, plop the module that attach the trade port to water or railroad..  Finally you will have to unlock the crude oil container for your trade ports and finally plop them..That way your crude oil shipment should not be affected by traffic.

But this is where Cities XL 2011/12 excelled.  You could export your produced goods to another city for profit. And that element was really fun as you made a real trade network between all your cities.

 

Hopefully SimCity can get that feature in place as well.
