no trains

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I downloaded new trains to my city, and now there are no trains or railroad usage at all. The real problem is, when I go into plugins to remove the downloads, they're not there, along with many downloads that I know are in the game. Is there a hidden plugin file or something? Id really like to see my trains again.

you are allowed to use one train models (1 locomotive and 1 carriage) at once, if you use 2 or more models in same type, the game will crash or the train will not shown.

If you are sure you put them in, they should be there.  Which ones did you load?  And yes, you can only have one skin at a time.

I downloaded the PVT Super Chief. I tried to uninstall it, but it is not present (that I can see) in the plugins

maybe the file is hidden, if you using windows 7,  click Organize --> Folder and Search Option --> View --> Show hidden files...

The link failed.  Perhaps you should do a new search on the STEX for it, and get the right one.

1. You can only use one of two files that available there. Are you sure that you install only one of those versions?

2. Have you extract those files to your Documents\SimCity4\Plugins?

3. Are you sure that the files are not in your Plugins? Which Plugins that you use? The one that located in the Program files or the other one that located in the Documents\SimCity4\Plugins? Have you check both of them to make sure that the file is no longer existed?

Note the instructions in the readme.  The Replace folder contains files that will replace default rolling stock.  Of these there are the restrictions noted.

 

In the Extras folder there are also some extra skins that can replace the ones in the other folder.  Note that the carriages have the same name.  The other two are freight engines, and you can only choose one of them.

 

These will not show up in any menu.  They are automata skins and will be used when needed if you install them correctly.  You can have one passenger engine, one freight engine and one set of carriages.  Up to you to decide which ones you want.

 

I rather like this, so I am going to install it.

I obviously screwed up the download, which is my own fault; I no longer want the download, I just want to remove it, but can't find it (along with certain other downloads) in the plugins. Can downloads be divided between the Programs and the Documents version of plugins? I always use the Programs, and 98% of my downloads work perfectly. I just want the default trains back

You should never, ever put plugins in the Program files section.  That is the game residency and if you do a reinstall everything there will be lost.

 

The file names are in my post above.  Just hunt them down and kill them.  By the way, the mod works fine for me.

it's also possible that they never got installed.  I ran into this problem yesterday with VDK trams.  The installer allowed for a selection of one skin or all skins (as extras) but I found that selecting the 'all' option did everything but actually transferring the files, only running the installer over and over to select a single skin or extra skin had any effect.

Well, that mod doesn't have an installer.  It is a manual install.  You have to pick the *.dat files you want depending on the readme file.

You can use multiple skins together.  The only thing you can have one of is a skin that replaces the default Maxis one.

And if you have multiple skins, what happens in the game?  I have a feeling there is only one slot for each skin.
