Why is my money fluctuating wildly

I feel like I've seen this discussed in other threads but no actual topic dedicated to discussing. I have a fairly successful casino city with around 130,000 sims. Throughout the course of a day in the game I go from making $6k-$7k an hour to losing $3k-4k an hour. It's extremely frustrating because despite the fact that I'm bringing in tons of money from casinos and my exporting plastics/alloy from my recycling center, I like to keep my budget balanced with steady money coming in. Any tips?

I've never done casinos but I've heard someone say make sure you have some hotels right near the casinos. Otherwise you make money at certain times but lose money at others. The hotels help fill in the bad times.

I have hotels in all of my casinos right on top of them. I was just losing $7,000 an hour a few minutes ago, now all of a sudden I'm up to GAINING $4,000 an hour again......

Again, don't know for myself but they were saying commercial hotels hold far more people and for free.

I just started noticing this as well.  I have a tourism city where my in come will go from +23K to +15K with no change in the population.  IDK what the problem is.

It's the nature of casinos and tourism. There are peaks and valleys depending on time of day and if there are any events going on, among other things. Having hotels only costs you money. They keep tourists in the city sure, but that's it. The next day when the tourists leave the hotel, then they can spend more money but until then hotels only cost you. As such, expect your income to never be stable.

Thanks. Makes sense I guess. Worth noting that I've noticed this in other cities too. Not just ones specializing in gambling. Kind of frustrating but I'll make do!

yeah casinos have big variance depending a time of the day, thats just the way it is,make sure you have atleast 2-3 tourist atraction in your casino area, this will keep em busy thru the whole day, also event centers help alot if they are in same area.

also i have my tourist area set up next to train station and this is def. best place to have it imo....(example:have a gambling house with upgrades just next to train and its making 50k per day

just make sure your comm. hotels are close to your casinos, event centers, tourist atr. etc. and also have really good mass transit cos if your comm. hotels are far away from tourist area they gonna pretty much drive your traffic to a hault cos they will travel with taxis to closest comm. hotel...

I gave it a shot one more, I had limitless simoleons to spend on it. Probably spent 5,000,000. Used every thick to send the tourists from the train, buss, airport, boat directly to 6 casinos, babysitted on commercial zones to only allow hotels to be built next to the casions. Had landmarks and a expo center. Had 7,000 tourist at peeks, but it just doesn't work as a game mechanic.

Tourists go down to 1000 then back up to 6000, then down again. They spend some time in the casinos and then take public transportation and go to town. Simply no way to be profitable with casinos that are full for about 2-4 hours a day but cost you 24/7.

They need to fix the amount of money sims spend in the casinos, the number of tourists that come in every day, their AI, give control over building hotels to the player. All in all, a total overhaul of the gambling specialization.

Plenty of shops selling models of the Eiffel Tower and rock candy, tourist junk. Then when commercial is doing well put up their taxes

It should be noted that gambling/tourism is getting a bunch of fixes in 2.0 release.
