Updating SC4 Deluxe to version 1.1.638.0

I have just bought SC4 deluxe. I have never played Simcity before so I am a bit confused about which mods I need to apply. So I found a tutorial on this site to update my SC4 version from vers 1.1.613.0 to 1.1.638.0

I followed the tutorial and get two file not found errors and then it says it has updated successfully !

But checking the exe file it has not changed and I checked a few of the other files and they hadn't changed either?

The errors were both the same -"Old File not found, However a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents did not match"

anyone know what I'm doing wrong please?

Hover your mose on the exe, it will give you the current version. Note, if you bought a digital copy chances are your game is already patched to version 1.1.641, in which case you're good to go

No it is a CD version and it definitely hasn't changed. it's still 1.1.613.0

The instructions aren't exactly clear in that the update patch is not regionally dependent upon where you live, but rather the game version.  The copy I bought off amazon turned out to be a European LHD version, so mine had to be updated with the SKU 2 and if I'm not mistaken the 1.1.613 usually does have to be patched with SKU2.  Also as a note, when you are successful, yours will top out at 1.1.640 (not 641) as it's a cd version.

It seems I used the wrong update. The list never mentioned europe or the uk so I went for the one for north america and australia !

 

BTW it upgtaded to vers 1.1.138.0  !  is that ok?

 

also what does this upgrade do ? is it just a bug patch?

I believe the rest of the full upgrade is the nightlight patch https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?page=14, the level you are up to allows you to use contemporary custom content (like NAM) if I understand it completely.

I'm having difficulty updating myself... my original version is 1.1.610.0... I was able to successfully update it to version 1.1.638.0 following the instructions, then to 1.1.640... BUT, my new problem is that I haven't used the crack file yet to replace the game file. Because when I replace it after doing the patch update, it reverts to its old 1.1.610 version

 

Now if I replace the crack file before updating it to 1.1.640.... I get the same message: "Old File not found, However a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents did not match." I think there's something wrong with the crack file that doesn't support the update. 

 

So now I'm stuck between having an updated game version but I can't play the game and being able to play with an old version.

Yeah, the patches and custom content will not work properly with illegitimate copies or CD cracks of the game.  You need the original exe file.  You can find the game online for as low as around $10 (about 430 PHP, if Google has correct conversions).
