    this is more discriptive.

I downloaded San Diego region from Simtropolis Maps part. A box comes up and says I need the correct bitmap and it says 921/921 or someting. Where do I go and how do I fix it. Can someone give my a step by step to fix it. I need help. I someone gives me easy directions I might put a city Journal of San Diego.19.gif42.gif

When you download the map, make sure you download the Config.bmp (bmp = bitmap) with it. The STEX lists them side by side.

Go to the download box for San Diego at this location:

    https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=5718

You must download both the map (left side) and the config.bmp (right side). The config.bmp tells the game the makeup of each region in relation to what size cities are in it. Once both are downloaded, it should work.

I am not sure I follow the steps you took, so I will briefly go through them.

With the game shut down, make a region folder in the main regions folder.
    copy the config.bmp file there.
start the game, load the region you just made.
do the key press [shift ctrl alt R] browse to the grayscale and select

The hour glass will appear if all has been done right, and the cities will cycle, but no terrain will show yet.  When it is done with the render your region should be terraformed.

The config file needs to be in the folder before the game loads

I am not sure what you are doing.  To make changes to the grayscale, or the config.bmp files you will need some sort of image editing software.

tungston, I did what you told me.

    -I shut down the computer
-I copied san diego map and bitmap to a folder in the main regions folder
    -I started the game
    -I did (shift/ctrl/alt/R)
-I found my region and clicked on san diego folder (San Diego map 1024/1024
-I had two thingsin my folder: bitmap and san diego map
-I first clicked on bitmap, but nothing happened
-Then I clicked San diego map, and a box came up and said regional bitmap is incorect, 1024/1024.
     Needs to be 961/961.
    -now do you get it?
    -or is that correct?

Copying the grayscale to a floppy won't chage it.

You only need to select the grayscale.jpg in the region view, not the config.bmp.

I did a search on the STEX for San Diego and found 2 maps, either one of them don't match the 961x961 size.  So, I don't know what map you have.

But the size of the config.bmp [for 961x961] needs to be:
    15x15 pixels,
which is a very unusual size, most are made to be divisible by 4.

Something happened to the files for San Diego, by f15excaliber if that is the one that called for a 961x961.  It is a 1025x1025, with a 16x16 config.bmp file.
