Hi guys.. After solving troubles with low water (thanks to dirty water coming from pipes for filling my lands :D ) I got a question. Better, 2 of them !

-how can my land become polluted if there is no industry there? what did it make this way?

-how may I reduce land pollution?

ok.. counting question marks I see questions are 3 and not 2.. I apologize :D

Thanks SimGuys ;)

I found it helpful to unzone any affected land and plant trees all over it.  Eventually it clears.  Some people swear by a water filter but I think the trees are far cheaper and just as effective.

I believe those are caused by uncollected garbage/sewage. You'll have to let it pass if you don't want to demolish + plant trees. Takes a loooong time to even begin clearing up. You'll have to support it with hospitals for health + parks for land value... If you decide to tear them down and plant trees, I think it should clear up in 3-4 game days

Yeah I'm pretty sure it was caused by overflowing garbage or sewage. I had this happen to one of my cities a bit ago and was pretty pissed because the entire map got polluted.

Trees work really well for ground pollution caused by industry. It should work for other types, but I can't confirm that. Sometimes you can't plant trees in certain areas of the map. For it to be effective you need to plant a whole forest on the affected area.

thanks guys.. I tried with forest but it was not working completely.. now I just put a sewage treatment plant and land seems to become little by little green.

I also thought it was a matter of garbage but now we are recycling too (despite my trucks don't get all bulidings in time). Sewage has more or less same problem.. it countinuosly says it is overflowing and pipes are full but I got 3 treatment plants (250k inhabitants) and 60k of unused sewage capability.. :O

And keep reforesting, in high pollution areas, the trees will die in a day.

Watch out, uncollected recycling bins also causes land pollution.

Double watch out: designating one city a recycling center city(provide recycling to another city and don't build a recycling center in the other city to maximize profits on original city) may have un intended consequences:

    - the target city residents will start generating recycling bins to collect

    - if you don't send enough trucks, these bins will overflow and you'll get the zots above buildings noting overflowing garbage

    - or if the trucks never get to your city(region play bug/host city got hit by recycling center bug), recycling will overflow too

You'll have to keep reforesting... Almost daily... Great way to reclaim polluted land from demolished landfill

A friend of mine had massive amounts of pollution in his city before he even built it. I have no idea why but it seems the pollution is just casually blowing in from nowhere, but with the city placement all of the mysterious pollution is now being blown up into my cities, which is causing the only complaints I have at the moment.
