dump vs recycling?

Hey

I have a large city

everyone is complaining how dirty it is

 

My dump is empty, no trash in it.

My recycling plant is almost full.

 

So i am thinking, can i destroy my garbage dump and replace it with a second recycling plant?

You still need to have a dump in your city regardless of a recycling plant.   Your city residents will continue to produce trash in the form for garbage and recycled goods.  Your dump may look empty if you are incinerating your trash.

 

If your recycling plant is nearly full, build a trade depot and export your recycled goods for money.  Your recycling plant doesn't operate the same way as a dump, it is meant to collect items then send them to a trade depot.  Also, recycled items are used locally in a processor plant to build items (if your should choose to build one later on).

Double check your trash situtation via the layer filters, could be your trucks are missing a place, or your missing a section of the city day in and day out. Plus there is a bug with the calculations as the city gets larger as fantasy cans start to appear and never get picked up...i dunno if the sims take into account this or not.
