How does education work?

In SC4 you had to have some of each education building, because each building catered for a different age group.

Is this true in SC2013, or can I delete "lower level" educational buildings as I move on? So for example, if I have a University, can I just delete all of the other types of school and force everyone to goto University instead?

Every branch of educational building will give your citizens access to different jobs...

If you look at your educational lvl, you'll see that there are like 5 stars/hats, this represents your "educational versus technology lvl".

To fx get access to I-HT, you dont just need a university, but also its predesessors(spelled?), as each different branch will increase your educational lvl, and thereby your technology lvl over time..

What YillmasRegin said.  I started getting some IHT when I built my community college.

You'll most likely have to coordinate with your co-mayors on building education civics.  Putting the grade school, high school, community college, university and all their modules in one city severely limits the amount of space you have left on the map (insert obligatory comment about small city sizes here).  In my private region I had one city with the grade school/community college, and the other with the high school/university.  The community college is probably the worst when it comes to space saving, it's hardly modular at all, I guess Maxis never heard of multi-level classrooms at community colleges.

I think this is all speculation, I don't see anything to support the idea that there are "age groups" among students.

I have one of each school in my city... You can offload education??? How do you even do that?  Also, can I destroy my neighboring city that I created for practice?  Id like to start it over.

Thanks!

There are absolutely no proof on that idea. Not even any statistical evidence, which makes me believe that age dosn't matter, but instead each branch giving access to a specific job level (Which is proven, even in the description of the buildings).

What do you mean by offload?

If you want to destroy a city, that fastest and easiest way is to make it go bankrupt. Build a ton of services and gift the remaining money away to another city.

Okay I get that point but delete your elementary school and replace it with a high school, the students will simply go to the high school instead, meaning they both serve the same purpose.
