Modifying Data.package to change locale (language file)

Okay, so I added all languages that were in the file provided by sct_nicolaus.

Here is the download-link: http://uploaded.net/file/y9g36qri

Just run it (before opening origin) and play simcity in whatever language you want (language-select will only come, if your origin-client is in an unsupported language, otherwise it will use the language of the origin-client).

The tool does create a proxy and also decrypts https-traffic (it has to, the part of the origin-client is send via a https-connection) so maybe avoid using stuff like online-banking or w/e (the proxy is a locale-proxy, not a realy one, you will keep your IP and also I do not log traffic or anything, I just say it 'just in case').

Also, program is in c#, anyone being skeptical feel free to have a look at it ;P

lso, program is in c#, anyone being skeptical feel free to have a look at it ;P

Nice job! Will test it when I get home from job later today :)

I am not skeptical, but pretty curious. Is it possible to have a look at the source code? I have no real programming skills to make my own "copy", so if I see any possible improvements I will tell you :)

I've been trying to download it, but this lame-ass download site keeps blocking me for some reason. I'll try again a bit later - hope it works. Thanks for the effort!

Hi. I downloaded it and ran it. Now it's asking me to log into Origin (even though it logs in automatically, normally) - not sure I like that (phishing). Can you tell me why this is happening? /paranoia

Edit: Also it seems like, while the program is running, Firefox is detecting a bunch of normally OK websites (Google, Origin) as unsafe. So I would recommend against anyone running this program until its author replies.

Update: Two things happened when I tried the program. One, the system clock got changed (caused conflict with the internal mobo clock) - this I didn't see myself, but when I ran Win's own network problem diagonsis tool that's what it said. Two, my internet got some issues; Firefox had to be told to manually re-detect its proxy configuration (it had none, and has none) in order to function. Ping command from DOS worked fine, though. Reboot had no effect. This is on Windows 7, not sure if hardware matters.

There is a way to avoid automatic updating?

this because i must wait for every game update, the relative language file...

or a way to modify the code by myself, if simple :)

thanks

As I said, the program creates a proxy and will change ie-settings (as long as it's running) to use that proxy.

The reason why websites are stated as unsafe is also something I already explained (or at least tried). The proxy encryptes your https-traffic (it has to, otherwise the program can't change the answer of ea's server), In order to do that, it will replace the ssl-license to a "selfmade" one. Websites are now stated as unsafe. because the ssl-license doesn't match the website anymore. It is warning you that someone could decrypt the traffic and therefore it is not safe anymore. That's why I said if you want to be sure, don't use any websites while the program is running.

BTW more infos about the main-core is here: http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/ <- My program is based on that tool

Any chance you can upload it somewhere other than uploaded.net, never lets the download begin, then complains because 1 try per 180mins. :(

Hello. I see, I guess I didn't read too carefully what you explained before using it. It seems like the modifications you refer to (encryption) doesn't change back - I killed the process in the task manager but it didn't sort out the problem I was having. Also, Origin doesn't want to log in now - I'm reinstalling it to see if that works.

Edit: Reinstall of Origin/Simcity doesn't work. I checked my internet settings (firewall included) and they appear to be fine, no traces of any proxy thingie that I can see. I can't log into Origin. Any other ideas?

Edit 2: Steam (Store, f list etc) doesn't work either. But playing online is no problem.

Edit 3: Fixed it through "Internet options" that I wasn't even aware still existed in Win7 (turned off proxy there), so all's good.

Many thanks to everyone here for fixing my ex-pat SImCity pl-pl blues. :D

For the record, I've been using the pin4all method successfully so far, but it does involve a lot of faffing about. This is a much simpler, more elegant solution. Again, many thanks. :)

Hey there. Thanks for the little insight on the .package files. I just registered here to let you guys know I've found a way to basically make the game update the language files every time a new update comes out by itself. So there is no need to download any updated language files. I've posted a tut here on my site. Please report back if it works as intended :)

I have made a new batch of Hun/Rus to English manual fixes: http://rapidshare.com/files/804545348/Simcity.2013.patch.1.95.Rus-Hun.to.Eng.Crack.zip

I would recommend you to try out Wolf's language fix tool, it will make the whole process easier:

I can see the Nissan DLC has added a few more lines, which I have no english version of. Can anyone with an original english installation upload their updated data.package file please?

Why? You only need to replace one file. If you have deleted the files for good, right click the game in Origin and hit Repair.
