Is it my internet or the servers?

The internet in my apartment complex isn't good, but it's no secret that the servers have sucked so far.  I am able to play, but it is very laggy.  So do you think the problem is my internet or the servers?  I have a 15" Macbook Pro, running the game on Parallels, but that shouldn't be a problem.... right?

From my understanding the game does not communicate constantly with the servers. All the computing is done at local level only those factors affecting region or community level like trading and stuff is calculated at server level. Also the game has 3 min cycle iirc for city saves and stuff. So I dont think the internet connection should be a reason for laggy gameplay. Of course I could be wrong but this is the best I could think.

Staying on internet as the subject, has anyone experienced thier internet disconnecting randomly when playing the game? Ill play just fine for a while and then my wireless internet disconnects. I 'repair' the connection (by clicking repair with the windows tool), it reconnects while I'm in windows then immediately disconnects when I go back to the game. Thoughts?

 

Note, my wireless card is fully updated. It is a Wireless PCI Express LAN Adapter, version 802.11n

My internet doesn't disconnect.  But my game is still lagging.  I've set all the gameplay settings from High to Medium.  Starting to think it's just my internet.
