Simcity 4 Crashing To Desktop

Hello I have had Simcity begin crashing again it is very annoying as this is a new PC I have bought that has really good specs for gaming, it runs games like BF3 on Max settings...

 

I play simcity 4 however and after a few minutes the screen pauses for just a second before a black screen and my desktop.

 

I have set the affinity to run Simcity at 1 CPU

 

And as I guessed you guys would ask regarding the exception report it tells me that my simcity is Module version: 1.1.613.0

 

So please for the love of god can someone help me as my last night before the release of simcity 5 here in the UK as Simcity 4 needs a damn good playing so I can decide which I prefer...

Your game version indicates that you don't have the official patch for the game.  You can get that here, and you can also download the update that allows you to see night lights on downloaded buildings here.

And then, you have to realize that your machine is about 10 years later than the game, so you have to make some accommodations.

 

Open the shortcut that starts the game and add -CPUcount:1 to the target line, click apply.  The option goes after the closing quote on the complete file string that points to the game executable.  Type one space, then the option.  If you want to get rid of the opening movie you can also add one space and -intro:off

 

Now, open your GPU control panel and set all the graphics options to "program selected" or equivalent.  SC4 doesn't use the features of hot graphics cards.

 

Game should start now, but if you have a monitor that is not one of the four in the game options, you will have to fix that as well.  There are command line options, and if you need them, just ask.
