Is worker commuting broken?

Created two cities, A and B.   Developed A as residential and I have medium wealth residents, about 270 worth.   Created city B with nothing but industry, about 10 shops + a coal plant, and let them fully build.   I have no workers coming from A to B, yet they complain about unemployment in A.   When I switch to regional view the advisor says residents in City A must be medium wealth.   They are.

Am I do something wrong?

This occurred in BETA for me too! I don't know why though either a bug or its very slow to update.

I found that you need to have a moderate amount of residential in the Industry City.  Its kind of like the game has a built in checklist before it starts working right.  You have to zone each type to complete the circle, and then you can create more Industry and everyone will commute from the other city.  I have a gaint industry city and a large residential city.  I started with the residential city until I needed jobs, then I switched over and built pretty much the entire Industry city on its own so its self-sufficient.  I then supplied power and garbage for the residential city, and when I went back over there to expand it, everyone was commuting.

It could also be that the sims want to have local jobs, and by doing this method you're pretty much forcing them to commute to the other city.  So that may be why it seems to not work properly.

I'm not sure what it takes to get workers to commute. I created a industrial city and a college city, but even though there are around 2000 unemployed in the college city, only 100-200 commute to the industrial city.

The cities are both built up and self sufficient. The industrial city shows 20k+ workers are commuting in, but none of my other zones show that many people commuting out.

I'm not sure what's going on, but I think it's safe to say the system is not working correctly or at least it isn't reporting the numbers correctly.

This aspect is all mediated by the server, and there obviously been some issues with lag in performing these calculations. I had this problem in the beta.

The sewage seems to be broke in my region, just started so both citys are tiny, but built 2 sewage plants in one, played in that town for around 30 minutes, switch to other and still no regional sewage available

I stopped trying to rely on power/water/sewage trade with other regions because it just doesn't work.

I can deal with that, but I can't deal with the fact that no tourists ever go to my casino city from other regions  :lost:

sadly the traffic model in sc4 was flawed and some of the brightest minds in the world tried to mod it and couldn't.... even  two guys at MIT,,, what makes you think that some interns at ea could write a good traffic algo for this poc?
