This is my first region in the new sim city. I just wanted to play around in sandbox and see how dense a city can get in this new sim city. And if it can support atleast 900k people how? currently i have no pictures but will be adding them soon. So far i have 3 citys averonton, littlton, compton my citys arnt like the pictures maxis shows in every city there is a option to specialize. maybe in oil or trade or somthing else. while my two smaller citys are speced for oil and industrial, small casinos i dicided not to plop the hqs to the specializations in the citys they were supposed to be in. i ploped all hqs in averonton boosting the citys commuters and residential developments to high density. (averontons base economy is trade, tourism) After ploping every nice hotel and highrise casino my still  pop stands at 40k (45k with daily tourism) But i believe i have found the issue. Compton has grow a considerable amount of highrise residential towers in its downtown creating over 17k commuters to the main city alone. I will impose strict zoning in compton so this wont get worse.  I didnt like how maxis made the city tiles smaller but after playing i dont care at all. Tiles can pretty much be connected into boroughs (examples averontons muncipal airport was moved to compton  still brings in same amount of tourist to my major city i also outsourced the citys power needs and water/dump needs to littlton. My overall opinion of the new sim city so far is that it is awesome!

i have started redevoloping the waterfront for high density buildings but its not done yet.... populations triples durng work day because of tourism and commuters n shoppers

Nice city, but I noticed several things. In the first picture, your downtown is surrounded by uninhabited mountains. Considering how tall the buildings are, I wondered how realistic that was. Secondly, are the hi rises and skyscrapers mostly plopped? It isn't that likely that a town of 34k would have that many hi rises grow.

To answer your question the mountains arnt in my building square. Actually they dont have a tile its wierd but they will proly change it. And the city has a urban commuter city called compton that has 46k res all working in averonton. together that=90k then i have another town which has 26k and 9k commuters to my big city. Also the pop is now aroud 200k a day because i have 100k tourist. there are only 5 hq buildings that were ploped in the city each for a specialization anything else poped up on its own. a lot of buildings you see a residential but there are still lots of commercial highrises. You can actually see one being grown in the center of the skyline. One more thing the skyline may look dense but its really not that dense it may look like a Chicago but its really more of a Minneapolis,Oakland

I like your Downtown part, but yeah, your roads are kind of jagged. Good work, though!

(littleton news broadcast) A meeting at the littleton city hall didnt go well as local nimby nancy nodford complains about the citys brooklynization as a industrial zone is destroyed in mid and high density homes. Nancy states "This is city doesnt needto become another urban waste lad like compton. The traffic would be horrible the citys whole image would be destroyed". Major kaboom later responded "Ms, nancy this city has always been a grity commuter city to averonton and the only reason for the grit is because we provide power, water and other services to the city we still do! The whole metro area is entering a new trend instead of having a commercial center surrunded by orbiting industrial the trend is now to provide as much housing to averonton as possible. currently avrontons downtown can house 158k workers. There are 46k unfilled jobs destroys economic prospect for not only the metro area and the region but now a entre section of sim nation. averonton is not the only major city in the region any more. The Atrex and Artex metro area is booming and becoming one of the most succesful industrial, trade and commercial areas in sim nation

    Spark_2013-03-11_22-33-27_zps63bcf272.pn

The regions populations has shot up from 180k to 302k 80k of that growth and a new metro area. We must know our rolls in this metro and conform to them to the best our abilties. (Nancy then threats to stop watching the public education channel and is escorted out of city hall) As new highrise condos begin to pop up around the city

    Spark_2013-03-11_22-13-24_zps095fbc88.pn

It isnt clear if averonton will ever realize is full economic power or still operate at half of its true greatness....

Interesting suburbs. Their apparently random design is visually appealing.SimCity 5's graphics and variable perspectives make city skylines cooler. The bird's eye view in SC4 was kind of weird.

The layout of this suburb is very interesting, but it seems like there are a lot of cross streets that limit the number of homes you can build.

I don't know why, but I love this picture! The skyline looks so real with the lighting. The only thing ruining it is the grass... Odd how it sticks out like that.

True but it still manages a nice pop of 20k. and since it doesnt have a skyline i wanted to make the road network intresting. The way the city hall sits on the lake reminds me of a court house in my city. But much MUCH more urban than this
