Graphs, Data Levels, Etc... Prisms?

I get these weird prisms which are really confusing when I try and get information and my city.  I'm interested in age of my Sims  and number of children, and number of adults, etc.  

 

Where are the excel like graphs which show information about, well, everything?

There are no traditional graphs like those in SimCity 4.  Maxis has tried to implement more innovative ways to view data; that was discussed well before the release in a few different articles and blog posts (which seem to have disappeared now...anyone got a link?)
