What a nice update ! French men with their wine 20.gif

I particularly like the last picture(s) of Frogo
But I don't understand where exactly are these two towns on your general map ?

Remarkable rural character. St-Florent looks very similar to many parts of the European countryside.

    Here are a few new pictures of FROGO :

    Here is the Eastern part of the city. You can see the train station, some suburb housing and of course farming building and crops (vineyards as usual on this part of the world).
    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval26.jpg align=baseline>

    Here is the northern suburb of the city. Housing is more disparate and farming more varied  : breeding (cows), crops (wheat, flowers etc). A few farms are gathering where the cold wind does not hit them too much in winter.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval27.jpg align=baseline>

    By the way, have you ever wondered how a city occured on Aldebaran ?  In most of my pictures, the city is already built up and finished, as if it was a mushroom who had get out of the earth during the night. Reality is really really different : it takes months and years before a city developps on Aldebaran.

    Except a few cases of cities created ex-nihilo by settlers (it was the case of FROGO, the first place where newcomers really settled on the northern continent), it always starts with a single farm such as this one :
    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval28.jpg align=baseline>

    Alone on the land. The peasant and his family can live on their own with a few chickens, a horse and some vegetables.
    After a few years, the peasant wants to improve his living and tries to develop his farm. He looks for something he could sell to the surrounding villages (for example, this farm is not far from SAINT FLORENT, a few kilometers west).
    Our peasant decided to breed some cows :
    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval29.jpg align=baseline>

    But if life is quite enjoyable during Spring and Summer it rapidly becomes boring and dangerous (wolves, snowstorm, floods etc...) during winter. It is the reason why, naturally, farmers tend to gather in small areas. Such as in this place :

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval30.jpg align=baseline>

    This small community of loggers, farmers and wine makers has developped in 3 years.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval31.jpg align=baseline>

    Thanks for all your encouragements !

    To be continued...

    100 YEARS OF A CITY : FINNEGANS WAKE

    Many of you... Well, one or two persons have been interested in the genesis of a city.
    That's why I will take another example, FINNEGANS WAKE, and we will follow its history from the very beginning to its current status.

    Originally, FINNEGANS WAKE was the name of the farm, belonging to a certain Matt FINNEGAN.
    This farmer made a lot of money with horse and cow breeding, a nice red wine and few other crops such as beans and corn.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval34.jpg align=middle vspace=10>

    FINNEGANS WAKE was just a group of small farm buildings. Stables, barn, etc...

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval33.jpg align=baseline>

    10 years after, some other farmers joined Finnegan's place and started building all around. The cultures were more varied...
    Sign of a real community, FINNEGANS WAKE got its first church.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval35.jpg align=baseline>

    After 15 years, FINNEGANS WAKE needed power, they built a windmill, and entertainment, they built a rodeo park.

    In order to protect their cultures from the wildlife animals, they also built fences all around the village.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval37.jpg align=baseline>

    The city kept on growing : after 20 years, 400 citizens were living in FINNEGANS WAKE.

    They added a water reservoir. Woods were timbered, and replaced by new houses. Little by little, breeding and cultures were pushed outside the boundaries of the city, outside the fences.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval38.jpg align=baseline>

    Street appeared in the city. The future historical center was taking form.

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval39.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttp://www.dudyimg.dudyconstructor.com/imagehost/fredval40.jpg align=baseline>

    After 20 years, FINNEGANS WAKE was a CITY of more than 1,000 citizens. Not only dealing with farming, but also with craft, trade, industry. FINNEGANS WAKE was challenging FROGO's supremacy on the island. They were just lacking connexions to the other parts of the planet. Bu it was just a matter of time...

    knowing the concept behind Joyce's Finnegans Wake (i'm assuming you using the name for a reason, unless it is from the song), i'll be interested to see how this turns out.
    it looks so peaceful and beautiful, but what are those small houses from?

    btw, it's nice to see you on a cj again.

    Great great great update

    This village is very similar to some that you could find in the French country-side. I like it very much.

    You must have been plopping a lot to reach this level of precision ?

    Yes. Indeed, I plop a lot. And it's getting worse and worse : now I also plop trees. Because of this nasty Cycle Dogg 2.gif

    Seriously speaking, this modd has completely changed my relationship with this game : I'm addicted again !

    Fredval,

    I really like what you've done with Finnegan's Wake!  You've plopped it in a way that makes it look like a homey, quiet community.

    There are some other ideas that I've seen that I've wanted to see if I could utilize, but I can't seem to find the right props in the lot editor, and I was wondering if you could help me out.  First, the small Simgoober homes that you've put on (I think) 1x1 lots.  Is that a singular prop, or a prop family?  I've searched through my whole list in the lot editor, and I can't seem to find it.  So, if you could help me out on where those props are found in the editor, i'd be greatful.

    Also, where can I find the barns?  I believe those are a family, but I can't seem to find them either, to create ploppable farms.

    Keep up the good work.  I can't wait to see what you come up with next!!

    To be honest, I don't remember which prop family I used for the farm. I know that I've got 2 different lots for the houses (based indeed on Simgoober set). And indeed it is made with prop family, which means some variety when I plop.
    Next time I go to the lot editor, I will take notice of it and will tell you... Promised !

    Tonight's update is still regarding FINNEGANS WAKE.
    The city continues its development. Modernity is appearing thanks to train arrival. Cars also get their place in the city, and thus the road network is improving. The construction of a seaport also facilitates trade and industry. Fishing is also booming, providing the citizens with something else than cow meat.

    As a tribute to Cycle Dogg, here is a sweet picture of a very quiet place just outside the city.

    Have you remarked the houseboat, sailing down the river ?
    Hope you like it 2.gif

    Is Finegans becoming a huge metropolis step by step ?
    It's really interesting to see it grow.
