Congratulations, mies. Right country, right city, right building. It is indeed the Chiesa di SS Pietro e Paolo, Rome, Italy. You get 10 points for that. You also get 2 extra points for the complete answer.

This church is part of the EUR, a complex built by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini starting in 1937. It is said to mark the place of the martyrdom of St. Paul.
The EUR was supposed to bring back the glory days of Rome and building designs had therefore clear inspiration in the architecture and monumentality of the Roman Empire.
The main attraction is the Palazzo della Civiltà del Lavoro, nicknamed Square Colosseo for... erm... well, looking like the famous landmark but being square instead.

You can't guess a continent, RadioheadFan. Take a look at the rules on page 1...

Hmm...even though my MBG sense (limited though it is) is telling me to guess some randomly obscure country where this arch should never be, I will guess:

    A.  United Kingdom
    B.  France

Congratulations, mies. Right country, right building, right city. It is indeed the Victory Arch, Paghman, Afghanistan. You get 10 points for that. You also get 2 extra points for the complete answer.

The arch was built in 1919 to celebrate a military victory of the King Amanullah in the war of independence of the country. It's located in a park in Paghman, in the outskirts of Kabul.
After the fall of the Taliban regime, the arch was restored.

    I'll try Denmark or Ireland.

Nice to see this game back up and running.

Hmm...well I want to say Canada, so that's my first guess.

MBG sense says to also guess Japan, so that's my second.

    Canada or Japan.

The Pierhead building dates back to 1896 and is one of the main landmarks of the newly-redeveloped Bay area in Cardiff. The victorian interior is as impressive as the outside.
Nowadays it's used as the office of the First Secretary.

It looks like a giant shoe.

Just in case flrscf is wrong, I will guess The Shoe Building.

You're somewhat right, Yellowlab. The nickname of this building is indeed 'De Schoen' (that means 'The Shoe' in dutch)

Congratulations, flrscf. Right country, right city, right building. It is indeed the ING House (aka ING Headquarters), Amsterdam, The Netherlands. You get 10 points for that. You also get 2 extra points for the complete answer.

The building was innaugurated in the year 2000 and was designed by Dutch architects Meyer and Van Schooten. The ING Bank wanted a landmark to be their new headquarters and so built this striking structure standing on 12 meter pillars.
The odd shape of the building earned it several nicknames, like shoe (as already mentioned) or iron.

According to what says the rule #3 of our game, the Mystery Building #21 was chosen by mies. And with the addition of flrscf to our scoreboard, it's a Dutch invasion in the MBG! A special thanks to all the players from that piece of land where people like cheese and play nice football!

Oh, I can't forget to mention that the last round was a milestone for our game: we reached 120 buildings, 100 cities and 50 countries at the same time (counting both editions of our game)!

Since Mystery City US is on hiatus, this game seems like a good one to peek in on.

    Germany or Brazil

I don't have much of a clue yet, so I'll add two guesses as well:

    United States or Canada? 42.gif
