Unexpected UFO and Zombie Attack!

I was playing the Beta having a wonderful time when all of a sudden a UFO comes out of nowhere and abducts somebody's grandmother!

Of course then on my NEXT city, it wasn't a UFO that attacked - but a ZOMBIE OUTBREAK!

Seriously, I loved the surprises and will most definitely keep these on during the full game.  I love having it tossed out of left field.  Anyone else have unexpected disasters during the second beta weekend!?

Yeah, the Zombie one really hurts your population haha.  I wasn't in this Beta but I was in the last one and I've had them eat more than half of my population before lol.

You must obviously be working for Maxis because those were the two most convincing videos to buy the game I've seen so far (either that or their team isn't doing so hot on advertising).

 

I really enjoyed the clips and couldn't stop laughing in both of them!!! Building a shrine for the grandmother? 10,000 dead in the second??? Good lord! XD

 

Now time to rethink if purchasing the game is worth it, I was so set on giving EA my silent disapproval, but these videos got me viewing the game in a somewhat better manner now.

Looks like the Zombie Apocolypse can render an entire city useless! That's going to be a huge problem to overcome!

Came to this thread by searching.  I had a zombie attack and had no idea how to stop it! I went from over 10k sims to about 300 in a matter of minutes.  Luckily my city is recovering, but how the heck am I supposed to stop a zombie attack in the future?

Did you have police? I'm guessing that's what stops it. I had it happen in my city of about 200k population and I didn't pay much attention, I did hear some gun fire so I assumed the cops were taking them out.

I guess that was it then.  I had the police station but didn't have enough money to add on any modules yet. Oh well.  At least now I'll be prepared.  Thanks!

I saw a video from the beat where simcitizens as well as police were shooting simzombies... looks like the right to bear arms is alive and well in SC2013.

 

I read (or maybe heard in a video) somewhere, but sadly I don't remember where so I can't confirm if it is legitimate, that zombies like to spawn in abandoned buildings - so maybe keeping those to a minimum would be helpful as well in controlling zombie hordes.
