Anyone here who DOESN'T use custom content?

Hi folks,

 

When I had my old PC I had a load of custom content and thought it was amazing, but as my PC wasnt all that powerful the game was pretty slow. I am in between PC's again and the one I have just now is pretty basic so when I decided to re-install SC4 I though I wont bother with custom content.

 

From past experience though I feel the NAM is a must, so I downloaded the NAM (with the 31 fix) - and maybe someone can help here, my game keeps crashing...could that be the PC can't handle the game or could I have downloaded the NAM wrong....because I didnt have any previous versions of it I assumed it would be ok.

 

I am going to try un-installing it and re-installing it, or even just look for an older version. While I am in that fold to delete things I found I had some waste management thing so thats been deleted...I have the NAM and somethign called 'Z_NAM' which is seperate, should I delete that?

 

The custom stuff is good, makes the game look so much better. As people have mentioned, the same building popping up is a pain in the erse!

Yeah I hear ya buddy! I tend to download 100 things at once, but I still only add a few at a time and it's wise to make sure the lot fits what you need, sometimes I get a station of some kind and the capacity is totally to low for my needs and for realism, so then you'll either have to find another better station, place multiple lots, which is unreal, or modify the lot to suit your vision. But I tend to find a lot of enjoyment in such activities, : ) But anyways, it's just a point from my personal experiences, I'll shove 100 new items into my plugins, but I've learned that you tend to get cluttered and while I free wheel with my mouse, it takes a long while to get to the bottom of the list sometimes... There is really so much stuff, that even with a selection process, I stay between 4-6 GB of plugins, usually... There's plenty, so much in fact that you can be much more selective, and have way too much still, but that is part of the fun, we can indulge ourselves, it's free!! : ))

What NAM 31 fix?
And the Z___NAM folder is a folder so that those elements of the mod will be loaded last, the game loads in alphabetical order... Don't delete it unless you're uninstalling or reinstalling...

Cool I'll leave the Z_NAM thing.

 

The fix I mentioned was called - NetworkAddonMod_Hotfix301_13April2012 its been removed now also, as just trying to get the game to work without crashing. So techincally apart from the NAM 30 (yes 30) I have no custom content!

Have you read the description of the Hotfix301 clearly?

 

That fix is for the v.30, not v.31. As I know, the  v31.1 which is the fix for the v.31 is not yet released.

Ahh, my bad I did read it wrong, now I am confused if I have the NAM 30 or 31 installed...also, I am beginning to think I should be taking these queries elsewhere, anyone have a look to point me in the right direction. I have looked in my documents but the NAM doesnt say if its 30 or 31!

Ok, I thought so, I'm just super anxious, I'm experiencing many CTD's but I'm like a pitbull with this new NAM, I won't let go of it, it's so phenomenal!! No rushes, and no complaints, I'm just anxious to take this new engine our for a spin, really open it up, : ) hehe

 

Edit: At the bottom of your highways menu there will be a little symbol with the NAM Team logo, it will tell you what version number is running

I  don't, but then I have only just got back to playing the game. I am sure I will eventually.

Make sure you are up to date.  Latest disk loaded version with all patches 1,1,640.  Digital download version 1,1,641.
